We have examined the hemocytes of three decapod crustaceans (Homarus americanus, Panulirus interruptus, and Loxorhynchus grandis) and propose a classification of these cells based on morphology, cytochemistry, and studies of cell functions. Carpal bone fractures are rare, with an incidence of 13% compared to that of fractures and luxations of the hand bones. Generally they are intraarticular fractures. Fracture of the scaphoid bone occurs most frequently, with an incidence of 75%. The greater number of fractures is found in the middle-third of the wrist bordering on the os lunatum. They are usually treated conservatively by splinting with a cast. Surgery is indicated only when the fracture is open, instable, dislocated or combined with carpal instabilities.

A total of 850 cases of septic diabetic foot infections were reviewed in 355 patients. Age, sex, other chronic diseases, site, etiology, Wagner grade, treatment, and results were analyzed. One third of the patients were in their sixth decade of life. There were 180 women and 175 men. Chronic diseases included hypertension, congestive heart disease, and renal failure. Staphylococcus aureus was the most common bacteria. Treatment was considered to meet protocol standards if Wagner's algorithms and infectious disease principles were followed. We studied 135 patients during a three-year period to determine the incidence and treatment of wound complications after infrainguinal bypass. The site of distal anastomosis was the popliteal artery in 113 patients, tibial artery in 20 patients, and sequential bypass in two patients. Autogenous vein was used for 79 grafts (59%), polytetrafluoroethylene for 53 grafts (39%), and a composite for three grafts (2%). Perioperative antibiotics were administered to 130 patients (96%). A case of the morning glory disc anomaly is reported in which alternating contraction and dilation movements were observed and documented with fundus photographs. Thyrotropin-releasing hormone loading was performed on 91 patients with asymptomatic autoimmune thyroiditis. Four women had no response to this loading test and had high levels in serum total and free thyroxine (TT4, FT4) and in serum total and free triiodothyronine (TT3, FT3). The distribution of single-cell DNA content was investigated in biopsy specimens from the human cervix of 121 women suspected of having intraepithelial neoplasia. Comparison of the results of the histopathological examination with the ploidy level showed that all normal specimens were diploid. Thus, no false-positive results occurred. A complex between serum albumin and immunoglobulins was observed on immunoelectrophoresis in six patients. Two patients with multiple myeloma had monoclonal IgA-albumin complexes; one of these complexes was formed by covalent bonds and the other by non-covalent bonds.
