In this study, the relationships between cellular oxygen enhancement ratios (OER) and nucleotide excision repair capability were examined using the UV20 mutant cell line (which has a defective ERCC1 gene). BACKGROUND: The XPA (xeroderma pigmentosum group A) protein specifically recognizes the UV-or chemically damaged DNA lesions, and triggers the nucleotide excision repair process. This XPA protein contains the functional domain which is crucial to the recognition of damaged DNA. Its primary structure suggests that this DNA binding domain may contain a zinc-finger motif. We reviewed our experience with 73 patients who had Crohn's disease and underwent local anorectal surgical procedures for perianal suppurative disease during a ten year period. All but one of these patients had intestinal granulomatous disease. The average length of follow-up study was 4.6 years. By using conservative, local anorectal surgical procedures and intensive medical treatment, we were able to establish adequate drainage of abscesses, reduce the inflammatory process and relieve symptoms. OBJECTIVE: To summarize the available economic evidence comparing MMS and CE for NMSC and, secondarily, to identify methodological gaps that limit interpretation of comparative cost-effectiveness.
