We report a case of anomalous systemic arterial supply with three aberrant arteries supplying the basal segments of the right lung. There is no published report of a patient of anomalous systemic arterial supply to the basal segments with three aberrant arteries. Transverse computed tomography (CT) showed one aberrant artery in the right lower lobe, and preoperative three-dimensional CT showed three aberrant arteries, which provided detailed information and assisted in the thoracoscopic surgery. The patient underwent a complete thoracoscopic right lower lobectomy.

Primary renal hydatid disease which involves any other organ is extremely rare. Training in cardiac auscultation is a core element of undergraduate teaching but recent studies have documented a remarkable decline in auscultatory skills. Therefore there is an interest in new ways to teach cardiac auscultation. In analogy to phonocardiography, an electronic system for simultaneous auscultation and visualisation of murmurs was sought. In recent years diagnosis, and in particular early diagnosis, of osteonecrosis of the hip has been much improved by modern imaging modalities. Magnetic resonance imaging is widely accepted as the primary imaging modality for the early detection of this disorder and can help to facilitate the therapeutic management in later stages. However, plain radiographs, bone scans and computed tomography are still important techniques, which cannot be avoided in most cases. This paper describes the relative values of the different modalities. The staging system used is the international ARCO system.

A case of cryptococcal osteomyelitis of the skull is presented. The patient was an immunocompetent host with skull and skin involvement without central nervous system or pulmonary extension. Pericardial cystic lymphangioma is a developmental malformation of the lymphatic system. We report a case of cystic pericardial lymphangioma in the anterior mediastinum in a 1-year-old male child. The lesion was diagnosed with multidetector computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Histopathological examination showed features of cystic lymphangioma.

A non-neutropenic patient receiving corticosteroids for systemic lupus erythematosus presented with fever, headache, and seizures. Ring enhancing lesions were found on computed tomography of the brain, and biopsy demonstrated Aspergillus fumigatis. Despite treatment, the patient died, and necropsy revealed Aspergillus endocarditis of the mitral and tricuspid valves.

RATIONALE: Communicating bronchopulmonary foregut malformation (CBPFM) is a rare congenital malformation involving both the digestive and respiratory systems. To our best knowledge, most cases of CBPFM reported in the literature were in infancy or adulthood and CBPFM in infantile is even rarer with a high case-fatality rate partly due to misdiagnosis.
PATIENT CONCERNS: We presented 2 cases of neonatal CBPFM. A 11-hour male newborn was admitted because of moaning for 7 hours, and a 1-day male newborn was referred to us with profuse foams, choking on breast-milk feeding and facial cyanosis.

We describe a case of central nervous system (CNS) toxoplasmosis in a patient with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Supratentorial hydrocephalus as a result of aqueductal collapse was the only abnormal finding on computed tomography scan. Toxoplasma gondii is the most common pathogen organism in high-risk AIDS's patients with involvement of the CNS.
