To assess whether indications for cholecystectomy might have changed after the introduction of laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC), the data from patients undergoing cholecystectomy at the University of South Alabama Medical Center during 1988 (before LC) and 1993 (after the introduction of LC) were retrospectively analyzed and compared. We compared self-reported vaccination to vaccine card data to assess concurrency in a sample of Black young adults in Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina. We described vaccine card versus self-reported data over time and examined discrepancies in reporting between these two sources. During the three-year period from 1981 to 1984, all clinical isolates of Streptococcus pneumoniae were screened for resistance to penicillin in the clinical bacteriology laboratory at The Children's Hospital of Alabama, Birmingham. Elderly participants (with a mean age range of 71 to 75 years) residing in two housing complexes in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, can generally be characterized as predominantly women with a low socioeconomic status living alone. We sought to present the epidemiology of intentional burns, both deliberate self-inflicted burns and assault burns.
