A lectin (APL) was purified from the venom of Agkistrodon piscivorus piscivorus (Eastern cottonmouth moccasin). Probiotics are widely used in livestock to improve gut health, enhance productivity, and increase disease resistance. Weissella strains, particularly W. cibaria, have probiotic properties.
