A cat was presented with signs associated with enlargement of the mandibular salivary glands. Histological findings were normal, consistent with a diagnosis of sialadenosis, and the cat responded to symptomatic treatment with oral phenobarbitone.

A one-year-old male Himalayan cat was presented with a history of chronic cystitis. Physical examination revealed that the cat had hypospadias. It was postulated that the abnormal urethral opening on the ventral aspect of the penis permitted faecal contamination of the preputial area and gave rise to the ascending infection. The hypospadias was surgically corrected and a complete recovery was achieved.

Mucopolysaccharidosis VII was diagnosed in a domestic shorthair cat from California. The cat was small and had multiple abnormalities, including a small body disproportionate to the size of the skull, angular deformities of the ribs, abnormally short forelimbs, luxating patellas, generalized epiphyseal dysplasia involving the vertebrae and long bones, cuboidal vertebrae, pectus excavatum, subluxation of both hips, osteosclerosis of the tentorium cerebelli and left petrous temporal bone, tracheal hypoplasia, and corneal clouding. Beta-glucuronidase activity was markedly decreased in peripheral

A six-month-old kitten had congenital urethral sphincter mechanism incompetence due to urethral hypoplasia and associated uterine hypoplasia and vaginal aplasia. Diagnosis was based on radiographic examination, surgical exploration and histological examination of the lower urinary tract. Surgical correction resulted in a marked clinical improvement. The cat became fully continent following treatment with phenylpropanolamine.

Cat scratch disease is usually a self-limited illness associated with tender lymph nodes, fever, malaise, and fatigue. Lymphadenopathy usually resolves spontaneously within three to four months. Cat scratch disease can be atypical as indicated by the presentation of our patient.

Cat-scratch disease is a subacute, regional lymphadenitis syndrome that occurs mainly in children. The causative agent is Bartonella henselae. After an incubation period ranging usually between 1 and 2 weeks, red papules develop at the site of cutaneous inoculation and persist until the development of lymphadenopathy with some malaise. Cases with complications have been observed including Parinaud oculoglandular syndrome, encephalopathy, a variety of exanthems and granumatous hepatitis. Diagnosis is based on serologic tests and, when necessary, antimicrobial treatment can be considered. Incisi

Ethmoturbinate polyps are described in a one-year-old cat with a four month history of stertorous respiration and frequent sneezing. Remission of clinical signs occurred after rhinotomy and polypectomy. This appears to be the first known case of nasal polyps reported from outside Italy and the USA.

The vomeronasal organ of the cat was studied macroscopically, by light microscopy and by immunohistochemical techniques. Special attention was paid to the general distribution of the various soft tissue components of this organ (duct, glands, connective tissue, blood vessels and nerves.) Examination of series of transverse sections showed that the wall of the vomeronasal duct bears 44 different types of epithelium: simple columnar in the caudal part of the duct, respiratory and receptor respectively on the lateral and medial walls of the middle part of the duct, and stratified squamous rostral

However, var … n, ciprofloxacin, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole and gentamicin. In view of the increasing number of cats, an increased incidence of CSD may be expected. The mechanism of transmission from cat to man is still unknown. Fleas or ticks may be involved. A 9-year-old male castrated cat was examined because of right forelimb lameness of 2 months' duration. The right cubital area was large, and the range of motion of the cubital joint was limited. Radiography revealed a mild periosteal reaction of the humerus, radius, and ulna. There was cortical remodeling of the distal portion of the humerus and punctate osteolysis within the proximal portion of the ulna. Arthrocentesis was performed and neoplastic cells were found, which led to a tentative diagnosis of osteogenic sarcoma or synovial cell sarcoma. Histologic diagnosis of synovial cell sarcoma

A detailed anatomical study of a dicephalic iniodymic monosomic cat in conjunction with the morphogenetical implications of the observed anomalies is presented. The animal exhibited two heads joined at the level of an anomalous medial exoccipital bone. Two brains and two foramina magna were present. The vertebral column was single but the cranial cervical vertebrae (C2 to C5) had doubled bodies. Cervical rachischisis with myeloschisis were associated defects. Two nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal cavities converged caudally into a single laryngopharynx. The esophagus, larynx and trachea were si
