Acute appendicitis can be the first symptom of the malignant tumour of the cecum. In the article we described case of 76 years old patient who came to the hospital on account pain in the right iliac hole, occurrent for 4 days with nausea and vomiting. Primarily patient classified to the appendectomy. The ultrasound examination showed the pathological mass in projection ileocecal valve and appendicitis. Adult intussusception is uncommon and requires a surgical approach. Malignancy is associated with 31% (43/137) of small bowel intussusception and 70% (74/106) of large bowel intussusception. A 7-week-old boy presented with a 6-week history of failure to thrive, acute intestinal obstruction, and an apparently irreducible intussusception (noted on contrast enema). Appendicovesical fistulae represent 5% of all intestinal vesical fistulae. Usually a known cause is appendicitis, cecal diverticulitis, cystadenocarcinoma of the appendix and carcinoid tumors. We report the 2nd case, to our knowledge, where a benign tumor is a possible reason for the formation of an appendicovesical fistula.

A patient presented with rectal bleeding which, on investigation, was though to be due to a polyp within the caecum. The benign nature of the lesion could not be established conclusively without surgical exploration. A limited right hemicolectomy was performed and examination of the specimen revealed a prominent ileocaecal valve. The problem of diagnosing this entity pre-operatively is discussed.

A 7-year-old boy developed recurrent abdominal pain. He was eventually discovered to have an inverted appendix via colonoscopy. At surgery, a polyploid intracecal mass was palpated at the base of the partially invaginated appendix. Resection of the cecal mass (histologically, a juvenile polyp) and appendix was easily accomplished. The types of clinical presentation and treatment of children with appendiceal intussusception are discussed.

Four patients with intestinal adenocarcinoma complicating Crohn's disease are reported. The youngest of the four patients was a 21-year-old female with a 9-year history of Crohn's disease of the terminal ileum as well as of the entire colon. The experience of a professorial unit over a four-year period of carcinoma of the colon and rectum is described. The high incidence of anaemia in lesions proximal to the splenic flexure is shown. The distressing misdiagnosis of the cause of this anaemia is pointed out, and the consequent misuse of haematinics in the form of blood transfusion, iron and vitamin B12 is shown.
