Metabolic fingerprinting of wild type and transgenic tobacco plants by 1H NMR and multivariate analysis technique.

The metabolomic analysis of wild type and constitutive salicylic acid producing tobacco plants (CSA tobacco, Nicotiana tabacum 'Samsun' NN) … nalysis. Major peaks in 1H NMR spectra contributing to the discrimination were assigned as those of chlorogenic acid, malic acid, and sugars. This method allows an efficient differentiation between wild type and transgenic plants without any pre-purification steps.

In Silico Study of Natural Polyphenols as Potential Metabolic Modulators in Mitigating Lipotoxicity in Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease via Thyroid Hormone Receptor Alpha Activation.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a metabolic disorder described by the deposition of triglycerides in the liver, which primarily occurs due to insulin resistance and obesity. Thyroid hormone receptor alpha (THRA) is involved in metabolic pathways that promote lipolysis, which can prevent the accumulation of liver fat. As a possible treatment for NAFLD, this in silico study examines the binding interactions between THRA and polyphenols and flavonoids present in fruits and vegetables. Including caffeic acid, curcumin, and chlorogenic acid, the binding affinities of the natural substa…

Evaluation of antitrichomonal activity of coffeewaste compounds against different Trichomonas vaginalis strains: An in vitro and in silico study.

Trichomoniasis is a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) caused by the protozoan Trichomonas vaginalis, closely related to secondary viral i … tivity in vitro and in silico of compounds commonly isolated from coffee waste. For this, caffeine, chlorogenic acid, quinic acid, caffeic acid, and mangiferin were tested in vitro for their anti-T. vaginalis activities against strains CDC085 and JT. [Qualitative and quantitative analysis of Evodiae Fructus based on the UPLC technology].

An UPLC method was developed for the studies of fingerprint and quantification of multi-components for Evodiae Fructus. The chromatographic separation was performed on a C₁₈ column (2.1 mm×50 mm,1.7 μm) with mobile phase of 0.2% formic acid-acetonitrile and 0.2% formic acid-water in gradient mode, and the detection wavelength was set at 320 nm.Dehydroevodiamine was used as the reference peak, there were 24 common peaks in the fingerprint of 29 samples were detected, and among them 10 chromatographic peaks were identified with the reference substance and they were neochlorogenic acid, chlorogen…

Four major polyphenolic compounds (idesin, chlorogenic acid, idescarpin, and apigenin-7-O-glucuronide) were identified and quantified. Idescarpin was the predominant compound in all tissues, with the highest concentration in ripe fruits (122.9 mg/g), followed by unripe fruits (105.0 mg/g) and female leaves ( …

Green extraction of bioactive compounds from Paederia scandens: An ionic liquid-based ultrasound-assisted matrix solid phase dispersion approach with computer-aided analysis.

An efficient and eco-friendly ionic liquid-based ultrasound-assisted matrix solid-phase dispersion method (IL-UAMSPD) has been developed for extracting and detecting bioactive compounds from Paederia scandens by ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC). Single-factor experiments were employed to determine the optimal extraction conditions. The results indicated that MCM-41 as the dispersant and 100 mM 1-dodecyl-3-methylimidazolium hydrogen sulfate as the eluent were optimized for the extraction of seven iridoid glycosides and chlorogenic acid. The total content of iridoid glycoside…

Complexation of bovine lactoferrin with selected phenolic acids via noncovalent interactions: Binding mechanism and altered functionality.

Noncovalent interactions of 4 selected phenolic acids, including gallic acid (GA), caffeic acid (CA), chlorogenic acid (CGA), and rosmarinic acid (RA) with lactoferrin (LF) were investigated. Compound combined with LF in the binding constant of CA > GA > RA > CGA, driven by van der Waals and hydrogen bonding for GA, and hydrophobic forces for others. Conformation of LF was affected at secondary and ternary structure levels. Molecular docking indicated that GA and CA located in the same site near the iron of the C-lobe, whereas RA and CGA bound to the C2 and N-lobe, respectively. Significantly …

Complexation of Hen Egg White Lysozyme With Bioactive Phenolic Acids: Molecular Insights Into the Binding Mechanisms and Inhibitory Effects Against Protein Aggregation.

Protein misfolding and aggregation are central to many protein aggregation disorders, highlighting the need for effective aggregation inhibitors. This study investigated fructose-induced aggregation of hen egg-white lysozyme (HEWL) and its modulation by the phenolic acids ferulic acid (FA), caffeic acid (CA) and chlorogenic acid (CGA) at 100 and 200 μM. Circular dichroism and ThT fluorescence assays showed that fructose promoted aggregation through increased β-sheet content and fluorescence intensity, respectively, whereas all phenolic acids suppressed β-sheet formation. CA displayed the highe…
