5-aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy and holmium laser treatment for intraurethral condylomata acuminata in a renal transplant patient.

Condylomata acuminata (CA) caused by human papillomavirus, often involves the external genitalia, perianal skin, and other moist mucous membranes. Urethral involvement is uncommon and little recognized, and usually limited to the distal 3 cm of the meatus. It is difficult to treat CA involving the urethra because of the anatomical location, risk of complications and recurrence. One effective method for the treatment of CA located at the urinary meatus is 5-aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy (ALA-PDT). However, experience of using this method for the treatment of whole urethral CA is stil

Condylomata Acuminata (Anogenital Warts) Contain Accumulations of HIV-1 Target Cells That May Provide Portals for HIV Transmission.

BACKGROUND: Condylomata acuminata (anogenital warts [AGWs]) are prevalent in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected individuals and sexually active populations at risk for HIV acquisition and have been associated with HIV transmission. We compared AGW specimens to control tissue specimens for abundance, types, and location of HIV target cells and for susceptibility to HIV infection in vitro, to provide biologic evidence that AGWs facilitate HIV transmission. METHODS: We used immunohistologic staining to identify HIV target cells in AGW and control specimens. We also inoculated HIV in vit

5-Aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy stimulates local immunity in patients with condylomata acuminata via activation of T lymphocytes.

Источник пометил публикацию как отозванную

OBJECTIVE: 5-Aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy (5-ALA-PDT) for condylomata acuminate (CA) is effective and safe, but how this treatment affects immune reaction is poorly understood. We aimed to explore the effects of PDT on local immunity in CA. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Immunohistochemical analysis before and after PDT was performed to analyze local changes in the distribution of T lymphocytes, CD123+ plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) and CD1a+ myeloid DCs. Quantitative Real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) was used to detect changes in mRNA levels of interferon (IFN), ISG-15, Mx-2, TLR9, and IRF7.

[Adjuvant 5-fluorouracil lacquer administration for reducing the rate of recurrence of condylomata acuminata following laser surgery treatment].

In the recent past we have observed HPV-induced condylomata acuminata with increasing frequency. Providing 60-80% complete remission the laser coagulation is primary in the treatment of condylomata acuminata. However, the generalized mucosal infection with subclinical condylomata acuminata leads to a recurrence in 30-70% of cases. Therefore, we combined laser treatment with adjuvant 5-fluorouracil painting. In a prospective study, 137 patients with a total of 225 treatments were randomly allocated to three groups (laser/laser + 5-FU ointment 5%/Laser + 5-FU 2% painting). After laser treatment

Systemic treatment of condylomata acuminata with recombinant interferon-alpha-2a: low-dose superior to the high-dose regimen.

Fourteen patients with chronic genital warts were entered in a pair-matched crossover trial of recombinant interferon-alpha-2a. They received daily doses of either 1.5 X 10(6) U or 18 X 10(6) U interferon for one week by the subcutaneous route (abdominal skin). After an observation period of 4 weeks in case of no change or partial response, patients of the low-dose group were given 18 X 10(6) U and those of the high-dose group 3 X 10(6) U daily for another 7 days. Eight of 14 patients had a complete remission by the end of the therapy-free interval of 4 weeks, 5 patients of the low-dose group

Local accumulation of FOXP3+ regulatory T cells: evidence for an immune evasion mechanism in patients with large condylomata acuminata.

Condylomata acuminata derived from the infection of human papillomavirus is a common sexually transmitted disease. Although T cell-mediated cellular immunity is considered as the main arm against such infection, the regulation of T cell immune responses in genital condylomata is unclear to date. In this study, we analyzed FOXP3(+) regulatory T cells in genital condylomata of patients. The results show that FOXP3(+) regulatory T cells with suppressive function accumulated in large warts. Consistently, the immunosuppressive milieu in large warts was characterized by high expression of IL-10 and

Detection of human papillomaviruses in paraffin-embedded condylomata acuminata--comparison of immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, and polymerase chain reaction.

The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is used for detection of human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA in paraffin-embedded tissue sections of condylomata acuminata. Incorporation of biotinylated nucleotides during the amplification process allows a highly sensitive, fast, and non-isotopic detection of viral DNA in a subsequent Southern dot blot. In 100% (13 of 13) of histologically confirmed condylomata, HPV-6 or -11 could be detected by polymerase chain reaction. By in situ hybridization 77% (10 of 13) and by immunohistochemistry (IHC) 69% (nine of 13) positive results were obtained. Because HPV genita

A Case of Giant Perianal Condylomata Acuminata with IgA Nephropathy Treated Successfully by a Topical Chinese Medicine Preparation Paiteling.

Giant condylomata acuminata (a sexually transmitted disease caused by HPV infection) currently is treated in many methods. Surgery, the mainstay treatment of giant condylomata acuminata, may cause a high cost or scar formation. It is important to explore effective and safe treatment options. Although the external treatment of traditional Chinese medicine treatment of condyloma acuminatum has not been widely used, in our case, the use of traditional Chinese medicine successfully treated a perianal giant condyloma acuminatum patient who also suffered from mixed hemorrhoid and IgA nephropathy mea

Advanced application of holmium: YAG laser combined ALA-PDT for the treatment of refractory condylomata acuminata in anal canal.

BACKGROUND: Anal canal condylomata acuminata is a disease caused by the human papilloma virus. Conventional cauterizing laser treatment cannot achieve a satisfactory result owing to a high recurrence rate, and the application of 5-aminolaevulinic acid-photodynamic therapy (ALA-PDT) also has limitations in the anal canal. Holmium yttrium aluminum garnet (Ho: YAG) laser with fiber is found to be effective at removing canal lesions, and may create suitable conditions for ALA-PDT. We aim to investigate the feasibility of Ho: YAG laser combined with ALA-PDT and to explore a more optimal therapy in
