The authors report on 1 patient of variant origin of right ophthalmic artery (OA) from ophthalmic segment of the left internal carotid artery. A 41-year-old man was performed magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and MR angiography. Cerebral MR imaging revealed a Dandy-Walker variant. In MR angiography the authors observed this unusual variant of origin of OA and a complete occlusion of right internal carotid artery. Ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging are the two imaging modalities used in the assessment of the fetus. Ultrasound is the primary imaging modality, whereas magnetic resonance is used in cases of diagnostic uncertainty. A neonate with hydrocephalus associated with Dandy-Walker malformation was successfully treated with an endoscopic placement of a transaqueductal ventricular single catheter. The modified catheter was provided with additional fenestration on its proximal side to allow simultaneous drainage from both the supra- and infratentorial compartments. Facial hemangioma can be isolated lesions or associated with a wide variety of systemic findings. We report a 9-month-old girl who shows an extensive facial hemangioma, intracranial and extracranial vascular malformations, a Dandy-Walker malformation and congenital cardiac malformations. This patient serves as an ample reason why children with similar cutaneous lesions should be carefully evaluated for other associated defects.

Prenatal ultrasound identified Dandy-Walker malformation (DWM) in ten singleton pregnancies with concurrent central nervous system (CNS) anomalies and extra-CNS anomalies in eight cases. Two siblings with congenital neurologic structural anomalies and delayed-onset selective bone marrow hypoplasia in a previously undescribed constellation of symptoms are presented. Differences between these cases and other well known syndromes are discussed. The importance of this association is the implication that children with congenital neurologic abnormalities may be at increased risk for the development of hypoplastic hematopoietic conditions.

Morphological and developmental changes of the ventricular system are analyzed in three major experimental models of congenital hydrocephalus in the rat: 6-aminonicotinamide (6-AN)-induced and LEW/Jms and HTX mutant hydrocephalus. The clinically comparable forms of hydrocephalus and problems occurring during each period of intrauterine hydrocephalus are then discussed. Six cases of Dandy-Walker malformation are presented. Five of them, diagnosed in 18-20 gestation weeks, respectively ended up in intermission of the pregnancy in second trimester and one case, diagnosed in 29-30 gestation weeks ended up in giving birth to a hypotrophical foetus in a good general state. The opportunities for diagnosis by 2D/3D echography have been considered in accordance with the new classification of abnormality of the fetal posterior fossa fluid collections. This is a clinical approach and a possible way out for the pregnancy and the new-born baby.
