We report the successful removal of an intraduodenal foreign body (f.b.) by endo-laparoscopic rendezvous, in a 67-year-old patient with mental disorders and duodenal occlusion by a large peach seed impacted in the duodenum. Morphology was studied together with the condition of the local cell-bound immunity in 24 patients who were not exposed to occupational hazards in their occupations and in 32 miners with a long length of service. OBJECTIVE: Endomysial antibodies (EMA) are a well-known hallmark of celiac disease, but some recent studies showed that the prevalence of these antibodies in clinical practice is lower than expected. The aim of our study was to determine the prevalence of antigliadin (AGA) and EMA antibodies on a consecutive series of subclinical/silent celiac patients.

The authors performed the selective proximal vagotomy in combination with the ulcer excision and duodenoplasty in 233 patients in complicated forms of duodenal ulcer disease. The clear indications for this type of intervention have been established. The high effectiveness of the pylorus-preserving operations is noted. Improvement of the techniques for local removal of an ulcer is a reserve for improving the results.

There is much controversy regarding the chronic nonspecific duodenitis as autonomous clinical entity. The introduction of fiberoptic endoscopy has altered the relative importance of ulcer symptoms in the diagnosis of peptic ulcer disease.
