INTRODUCTION: Primary fallopian tube carcinoma is a rare tumor. The aim of this study was to evaluate clinical characteristics and management of fallopian tube malignancies at a large tertiary care cancer institute.
METHODS: A retrospective review of the Tumor Registry was conducted to identify all primary fallopian tube carcinomas between 1980 and 2001. Medical charts were retrospectively reviewed. Primary endpoints were overall survival and disease recurrence.

Primary teratomas of the fallopian tube are extremely uncommon. To date, only about 50 cases have been reported in the literature. They occur usually in the fourth decade. There association with nulliparity and reduced parity has been noted. Many have been discovered incidentally and none has been diagnosed preoperatively. The majority are cystic, show great variation in size and are commonly located in the ampulla or the isthmus. They can be intraluminal, attached to the serous surface by a pedicule and rarely intramural. Histologically they are similar to teratoma of the ovary and elsewhere.

INTRODUCTION: Adult dermatomyositis is a rare inflammatory myopathy associated with typical cutaneous lesions and an increased incidence of internal malignancies, notably cancers of the female genital tract. Nevertheless, fallopian tube carcinoma is exceptionally associated with dermatomyositis.
EXEGESIS: We report an unusual case of dermatomyositis because of cutaneous necrosis revealing a cancer of the fallopian tube.

BACKGROUND: Schwannoma is a well-defined, usually benign tumor arising from the Schwann cells in the nerve sheath. It can present in any location as a solitary mass; however, it is rarely found in the pelvis.
CASE: We report a 40-year-old female patient with a pelvic mass, which revealed tubal schwannoma after complete resection of the mass and uterus by laparotomy.
CONCLUSION: Schwannomas are thought to result from a proliferation of perineural cells. Although origin along the nerves of the retroperitoneal space is not uncommon, these tumors rarely present as pelvic masses.

We report a unique tumor of the fallopian tube that was an incidental finding in a 60-year-old woman. The tumor was characterized by nests of spindle cells embedded in a partially ossified, hyalinized stroma, that also contained amyloid and basement membrane-like material. The histologic appearance of the tumor cells suggested an epithelial nature, but no immunohistochemical or ultrastructural evidence of such was found. PURPOSE: This retrospective multicenter study aimed to assess the survival and prognostic factors of primary fallopian tube carcinoma.
METHODS: The medical records of 29 patients with fallopian tube carcinoma from two centers were reviewed for age, stage, surgical intervention, relapse and survival.

Fallopian tube cytology has been used as a useful tool in the diagnosis of infertility. In this study, we developed an intra-fallopian tube cell collection method with the simultaneous use of a laparoscope and hysteroscope, and examined its safety and applicability for the diagnoses of endometriosis and hydrosalpinx. We report a mature solid teratoma arising in the fallopian tube. The mass was noted on CT scan prior to surgery for a mature cystic teratoma of the contra-lateral ovary. Neoplasms of the fallopian tube are very uncommon. Moreover, the incidence of a mature solid teratoma of the fallopian tube is extremely low.

UNLABELLED: Isolated Fallopian tube torsion in teenagers is extremely rare and diagnosis is difficult. Coelioscopy is necessary, but surgery often occurs too late for tube conservation.
CASE REPORT: A case of Fallopian tube torsion bringing about a cyst is presented. Diagnostic difficulties, echography, treatment and cause are discussed.
CONCLUSION: Early diagnosis and surgical intervention is mandatory when isolated Fallopian tube torsion is suspected.

Forty-four cases of primary cancer of the fallopian tube (PFTC) were analyzed as to Ki-67 expression, grade, stage and the cancer histological type. Among patients with an average age of 57.5 years (range 38-70 years), 27 patients were FIGO I, 7 were FIGO II and 10 were FIGO III.
