Four cases of sarcoma of the small intestine (2 leiomyosarcoma, 1 fibrosarcoma, and 1 Hodgkin's disease) are described. In each case, diagnosis was the outcome of surgery: emergency operation for acute abdomen in three cases (2 mechanical ileus, 1 perforation); exploratory laparotomy for recurrent haemorrhage following negative X-ray examination per os and clyster of the digestive tract on a number of occasions. The relevant literature is surveyed. Attention is drawn to the different anatomopathological and clinical forms, and to the difficulty of diagnosis.

RATIONALE: Dedifferentiated liposarcoma (DDLPS) is a subtype of sarcoma that originates from atypical lipomatous tumor/well-differentiated liposarcoma and undergoes varying degrees of dedifferentiation. Myxofibrosarcoma is common in the extremities, but rare in the head and neck region. Hypopharyngeal myxofibrosarcoma has not been reported previously. We report the first case of a patient with myxofibrosarcoma of the hypopharynx. We examined this patient once a month after the operation, and there has been no local recurrence and no distant metastasis. Primary pulmonary synovial sarcoma (PPSS) is an extremely rare tumor, with approximately 50 cases being reported in the English literature (Golota et al., 2018). Difficulties are often encountered in the diagnosis of PPSS as it can be confused with other spindle or round cell tumors, such as fibrosarcoma, hemangiopericytoma, mesothelioma, sarcomatoid carcinoma, or metastatic sarcomas. PPSS was first described by Zeren et al. in 1995. We present a case of PPSS in a 41-year-old woman, who complained of progressive dyspnea and left-sided chest pain.

Dermatofibroma and dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans usually are seen as firm nodules in the skin. We have observed several patients, all female, with an atrophic or depressed lesion on the chest or back. When biopsy was done, the biopsy punch was often noted to sink into the lesion. In each case the biopsy specimen showed a cellular dermatofibroma or dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans. The correct diagnosis was rarely suspected clinically. This uncommon clinical presentation may be related to the marked cellularity of the fibrous tumors in this series.

Myxofibrosarcoma of the spermatic cord is a rare form of para-testicular tumor that usually presents with painless scrotal or inguinal swelling. Ultrasonography revealed a solid mass in the scrotum, suggesting a para-testicular tumor, and exploration via a high inguinal incision revealed a large para-testicular mass. Finally, a pathologic examination revealed a low-grade sarcoma favoring myxoid fibrosarcoma. Here, we present the first reported case of myxofibrosarcoma of the spermatic cord in Ethiopia in a 54-year-old male patient and reviewed the available literature on the topic.
