BACKGROUND: Juvenile xanthogranulomas are rare benign tumors of histiocytic origin with cutaneous manifestation predominantly in the head and neck. A case of a 12-month-old girl is presented.
CASE REPORT: A tumor of the inferior crus of the left auricle had been noticed three weeks after birth. It was of yellowish color, bosselated and firm, and not mobile. We report a 16-year-old male with histiocytic sarcoma (HS) originating in the lung. Partial resection of the lung was performed for a 3-cm mass with a clear boundary detected in the right inferior pulmonary lobe on a health checkup. We propose a stochastic model for use in epidemiological analysis, describing the age-dependent development of atherosclerosis with adequate simplification.
