PURPOSE: To report a case of pyogenic granuloma associated with ocular acne rosacea.
DESIGN: Case report.
METHODS: Interventional case report.
RESULTS: The patient developed an unusual lesion of the conjunctiva and limbus, histologically confirmed to be pyogenic granuloma. Excision of the lesion resulted in symblepharon formation, adhesions between lid margins, tarsal conjunctiva, and cornea, and reductions in visual acuity. The patient underwent surgical separation of the corneal lid adhesions with a mucosal autograft for the tarsal conjunctiva and an amniotic membrane graft for the cornea

A 35-year-old male presented with a slowly growing keratotic tumor on the plantar aspect of his left second toe. Over a ten-year period, the projecting tumor had grown to the size of 7 x 18 mm without causing any symptoms. Three months prior to presentation, a red and polypoid papule of 5 x 5 mm-size began to develop within the original tumor. The tumor was diagnosed as acquired digital fibrokeratoma accompanied by pyogenic granoloma. Hereby, we report this unusual case.

This report describes a rare situation in which external cervical resorption was associated with gingival enlargement (pyogenic granuloma) in the upper left central incisor (tooth 21) in a 28-year-old man. Tissue from the lesion was examined histopathologically; periodontal, endodontic and restorative treatments were performed; and the occlusal disharmony, which had resulted in traumatic occlusion, was corrected. Three years after these treatments, the gingiva is normal and healthy and there is no sign of recurrence of the pathologic enlargement. The patient"s periodontal condition is now rout

Cutaneous ossification may occur in association with a variety of cutaneous neoplasms and inflammatory conditions, such as pilomatricomas, basal cell carcinomas, nevi, chondroid syringomas, venous stasis, and scars. However, it has rarely been reported in pyogenic granuloma, a relatively common benign vascular tumor of the skin and mucous membranes. We herein presented a rare case of cutaneous pyogenic granuloma with ectopic ossification on the big toe of a 37-year-old man, with high recurrence despite repeated CO2 laser ablations. We propose the hypothesis that vascular endothelial growth fac

BACKGROUND: Oral metastatic tumours are uncommon and account for approximately 1% of malignant oral neoplasms.
RESULTS: If the cases where the oral location is in the jawbone, with secondary invasion to the oral soft tissue, are excluded, only 10 cases of gingival metastasis from hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have been previously reported in the literature. The clinicopathologic features of an HCC with gingival metastasis are reported. Six months after the multicentric HCC and alcoholic cirrhosis was diagnosed, a 65-year-old male patient presented a rapidly growing, lobulated and reddish exo

BACKGROUND: Pyogenic granuloma has been reported to be associated with hemangiomas and hamartomas, including port-wine stain. It has been suggested that the spontaneous development of pyogenic granuloma in port-wine stain might be associated with microscopic arteriovenous anastomoses in highly vascularized areas such as the fingers, hands, lips, tongue and face.
CASE REPORT: A 25-year-old male patient presented with a history of a reddish, solitary nodule on the posterior cervical area for eight months. There had been an associated port-wine stain at the same localization since birth. Physica

BACKGROUND: The authors present two case reports of patients exhibiting pyogenic granulomas in the maxillary labial mucosa, which were related to an apical fenestration of a primary incisor.
CASE DESCRIPTIONS: Several researchers have reported that the gingival wound and surrounding inflammatory tissue typically heal spontaneously after extraction of a fenestrated primary tooth. However, in the cases presented here, the gingival lesion did not heal after the fenestrated teeth were extracted.
CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: After extracting fenestrated teeth, clinicians need to examine the labial area

Based on clinical features alone, pyogenic granuloma can be difficult to differentiate from a peripheral giant cell granuloma, a more aggressive oral lesion that could have consequences such as teeth displacement and alveolar bone resorption. A thorough clinical and radiographic examination is important to determine whether teeth and/or bone are involved. Furthermore, the early onset of puberty in females may increase the prevalence of pyogenic granuloma at a young age.

Intravascular papillary endothelial hyperplasia (IPEH) is a rare benign vascular tumour. Many histological features are similar to those of low-grade angiosarcoma, a common, but more serious condition. Clinical and histological differentiation is important to avoid overtreatment of this benign condition. We report on a 34-year-old woman who developed recurrent IPEH at the site of a previously excised pyogenic granuloma.

BACKGROUND: Pyogenic granuloma is a vasoproliferative inflammatory response composed of granulation tissue. The pathogenesis is not entirely clear. We describe a series of patients with pyogenic granulomas occurring following common oculoplastic procedures and propose a common etiology.
METHODS: Sixteen cases of pyogenic granuloma that occurred after various oculoplastic procedures from 1991 to 2000 were collected from the files of two oculoplastic surgeons.
RESULTS: Pyogenic granulomas were found to occur at surgical and nonsurgical sites associated with tissue irritation or inflammation or

We present herein our technique for the management of pyogenic granulomas. Twenty such lesions were treated in 13 patients by shave excision followed by laser photocoagulation of the base. Recurrence was noted in just one case and was successfully treated by repeated laser treatment. The cosmetic results have been uniformly excellent. Shave excision followed by laser photocoagulation is an effective therapeutic alternative to excision and linear closure for the treatment of pyogenic granuloma, one that minimizes scar formation while preserving the ability to confirm the diagnosis.

Intra-oral pyogenic granulomas have been associated with pregnancy. The exaggerated response of these tumors has been related to the hormonal changes occurring during this period. A change in the hormonal balance also occurs during puberty. In this paper, we present two young patients with large pyogenic granulomas and suggest that the hormonal changes play a primary role in the pathogenesis of this tumor.

A pyogenic granuloma occurred in a port-wine stain treated with first an argon, and subsequently a carbon dioxide, laser. Although reports of this phenomenon are infrequent in the literature, our review suggests that this is not a rare complication. The pathogenetic implications are discussed.

This case report highlights the clinical progression of a recurrent pyogenic granuloma (PG) in a 17-year-old male baseball player who experienced the transition of the lesion into a calcifying fibroblastic granuloma (CFG) extending into the periosteum and underlying bone. Adolescence, a period marked by significant hormonal changes and increased susceptibility to stress due to the demands of being an athlete, combined with a lack of proper oral hygiene, may have played a significant role in the lesion's development, recurrence, and progression to CFG. The initial treatment involved excisional
