The anatomic distribution of dermatitis affecting the hands and feet can provide clues to the likelihood that a contact allergen is provoking the dermatitis. Dermatitis presenting on the hands or feet, but not both, is more likely because of allergic contact dermatitis, whereas dermatitis affecting both the hands and feet is more likely a result of a systemic cause. This paper reports on a case of oral melanosis resultng from Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome, a hereditary disease characterized by harmatomatous polyposis and by mucocutaneous melanic pigmentation, in a 14-year-old Fijian girl with a family history of the disease. The patient underwent surgery for treatment of an intestinal obstruction due to a small intestine intussusception. Recognition of the characteristic pigmentation by dentists may lead to early diagnosis of associated harmatomatous polyps or neoplastic disease that may be life threatening.

Positive patch test reactions to 2% cinnamic aldehyde were obtained from 2.8% of 34 males and 9.1% of 55 females. The 9.1% female reactivity may be traceable to perfumed cosmetics. Simultaneous Jasmin allergy is documented as is the occurrence of alpha-amyl cinnamic aldehyde in synthetic Jasmin. The relevance of these reactions is discussed. In two of the patients a proper diagnosis was not made from the original contact history. Only after a screening tray demonstration of cinnamic aldehyde allergy could a relevant history be taken from these patients.

Fiberglass is extensively used due to its properties of thermal, acoustic and electrical insulation, and also to reinforce other materials such as plastics. Irritant contact dermatitis to fiberglass is a well established occupational dermatose and is due to penetration of small fragments in the cornified layer of the skin. On the other hand, allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) is rare and is more often triggered by sensitivity to the additives and resins used in the manufacture of fiberglass products. We report a case of ACD to fiberglass in a factory worker of fiberglass reinforced products.
