BACKGROUND: The associations between disease activity and several clinical signs in vitiligo have been described, but a widely accepted and validated scoring system is lacking.
OBJECTIVES: To validate the Vitiligo Signs of Activity Score (VSAS) for physicians.

A 34-year-old man presented with a 6-month history of hypopigmented macules that were interspersed with blanching erythematous macules on the trunk, upper extremities, and lower extremities. Bier spots are small, hypopigmented macules that are usually found on the arms and legs of young adults. The intervening skin may seem erythematous but blanches with pressure so that the hypopigmented macules disappear. This is a benign vascular anomaly.

We report the cases of five female patients with high skin phototype affected by relapsing, hypochromic, non-scaling macules occurring after the summer on the back and spreading over large areas of skin. Histological features disclosed decreased epidermal melanin. Psoralen plus ultraviolet A (PUVA) treatment proved to be beneficial, but new relapses were noted after stopping treatment. INTRODUCTION: Retinoblastoma (RB) and oculocutaneous albinism (OCA) are genetically independent disorders whose coexistence is exceptionally rare, with an estimated theoretical frequency of 1 in 800 million births.
