Alzheimer's disease (AD) brains are characterized by accumulations of neurofibrillary tangles and amyloid β (Aβ) plaques. Since enteric neurons express tau and the amyloid precursor protein (APP), we asked whether neurofibrillary tangles and Aβ aggregates were present in AD intestines compared to healthy controls and individuals with Parkinson's disease (PD) and Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB). Intestinal malrotation refers to the incomplete rotation of the primitive intestine around the vitelline sac or superior mesenteric artery. It is frequently found on the first days of extrauterine life or in adult life, as an incidental finding or with obstructive symptoms. We present a case of intestinal obstruction due to intestinal malrotation in a male adult, who underwent urgent surgical abdominal exploration.

PURPOSE: Duplication enucleation (DE) has been described as an alternative to intestinal resection with primary anastomosis (IRA) for intestinal duplications, but no comparative study exists. The aim of this study was to compare both surgical procedures for intestinal duplication.
