A feasible way to explore real blood vessels thermal responses to laser irradiation by combing optical clearing and the reflectance spectra measurements: animal experiment study.

Laser therapy has been widely used to treat port-wine stains (PWS) and other cutaneous vascular lesions via selective photothermolysis. Animal models are a valuable tool for investigating thermal responses beneath the skin. However, in previous animal experiments, such as the dorsal skin chamber model, one side of the skin was removed, resulting in the loss of mechanical support for the target blood vessel. In this study, the optical clearing technique was applied to the dorsal skin, allowing direct observation of real thermal responses within the tissue without removing the covering skin. The

ALA-PDT combined with 2940 nm ablative fractional Er:YAG laser for Darier's disease.

Darier's disease is a rare, genetically determined dyskeratotic skin disorder. Although many conventional treatments have been reported, management of Darier's disease remains challenging. Most patients are at high risk of recurrence during long-term follow-up. Here, we present two patients who were successfully treated with ALA photodynamic therapy (PDT) and ablative 2940 nm Er:YAG fractional laser. Both patients exhibited significant improvements in the affected areas with moderate pain, transient erythema and edema. Remission durations of up to 2 years were observed in both patients after c

Intraocular pressure increase after Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy and anterior segment optical coherence tomography analysis.

This study is to determine whether post-procedure intraocular pressure (IOP) increase is associated with the anterior chamber angle in cases of Neodymium: yttrium-aluminum garnet (Nd: YAG) laser capsulotomy. The study included 51 eyes with posterior capsule opacification. Initial IOP values of the patients were compared with IOP values without intraocular pressure-lowering administration at the end of the 1st hour, 1st day, 3rd day, and 7th day after Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy. The anterior segment angle configuration was evaluated using anterior segment optical coherence tomography analysis wit

Efficacy and safety of picosecond laser for the treatment of melasma: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Multiple laser modalities have been used for melasma treatment. However, the effectiveness of picosecond laser in treating melasma remains unclear. This meta-analysis investigated the effectiveness and safety of picosecond laser for melasma treatment. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing picosecond laser with conventional treatment for melasma were searched through five databases. The melasma area severity index (MASI)/modified MASI (mMASI) was used to quantify the degree of melasma improvement. Standardized mean differences and 95% confidence intervals were calculated using Review Ma

Comparison of fractional erbium:YAG laser-assisted tranexamic acid delivery alone and in combination with oral tranexamic acid in melasma.

Tranexamic acid (TA) emerged as a promising agent for melasma. However, due to its hydrophilic structure, topical TA should be combined with a penetration-enhancing strategy to augment efficacy. To evaluate the efficacy of fractional erbium:YAG laser-assisted delivery (LAD) of topical TA 5% either with or without oral TA treatment in recalcitrant melasma patients. The authors retrospectively assessed the treatment outcomes of melasma patients treated by fractional erbium:YAG LAD of topical TA 5%. Patients receiving a standard protocol including four biweekly laser sessions were eligible. The s

Treatment of linear and whorled nevoid hypermelanosis using QS 694-nm ruby laser.

Laser is being widely used in treating pigmented lesions nowadays. Linear and whorled nevoid hypermelanosis (LWNH) is a rare pigmentary anomaly, and there are only a handful of cases of successful treatment, all with QS 532- and 755-nm laser. The objective of this study was to examine the clinical outcome of QS 694-nm ruby laser in the treatment of LWNH. We report on a 4-year-old boy presented with asymptomatic macular hyperpigmentation over the entire cheek who underwent 3 treatment sessions with QS 694-nm ruby laser. One month after the last treatment, the patient demonstrated significant im

Treatment of facial pigmented disorders with a 785-nm picosecond Ti:sapphire laser in Asians: A report of three cases.

Since the advent of the theory of selective photothermolysis, the importance of targeting the chromophore and minimizing the surrounding damage has been extensively discussed. Picosecond-domain laser (ps-laser) treatment with a wide range of wavelengths is an emerging option for various pigmented lesions; however, no definitive treatment choice has been confirmed. The authors aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of a ps-laser with a 785-nm wavelength for the treatment of facial pigmented lesions in Asians. Three Korean patients with facial pigmented lesions were recruited for the study
