[Intramaxillary devices of molar distalization on fixed appliance and with aligners].

INTRODUCTION: Class II malocclusion is a dysmorphosis that can result from different skeletal and/or alveolar components of maxillary and/or mandibular origin. In dental class II cases due to mesial drift of the maxillary molars, it is sometimes interesting to retract the maxillary molars, in order to avoid in certain situations extractions of premolars. To this end, several devices have been described in the literature. The most recent intraoral devices allow a more controlled correction, and no longer require cooperation from the patient. In addition, in a number of cases of distalization, a

Bone Remodeling in Adults: Treatment of an Adult Skeletal Class II, Division 2 Patient Using a Modified Bionator II Appliance.

Revision ofpublished facts about bone remodeling and re-evaluation ofpreconceptions about bony changes provide a renewed perspective on clinical decision-making in treatment options for adults. Bionator II appliances have been successfully used to treat Class II malocclusions in growing patients. In non-growing patients, however, these appliances have been mostly used as retainers. In this paper, a modified Bionator II is used to treat a Class II Division 2 malocclusion in an adult.

Dermatoglyphics: A Noninvasive Diagnostic Tool in Predicting Class III Skeletal Malocclusion in Children.

BACKGROUND: Dermatoglyphics is a scientific study that deals with the epidermal ridges and their configurations on certain body parts such as fingers, palms, and soles. In humans, during the intrauterine life (IUL) the primary palate, lip, and dermal ridges are formed during the same period, the genetic code engineered in the genome normal or abnormal is mirrored on these developing structures. Thus making dermatoglyphic a preceding tool in dental diagnosis. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: The study aimed at evaluating dermatoglyphics as a tool in diagnosing malocclusion by comparing qualitative and qua

Evaluation of cervical posture of children in skeletal class I, II, and III.

Previous studies on the relationship between morphological structure of the face and cervical posture have predominantly focused on vertical dimensions of the face. The aim of this study was to investigate whether there are significant differences in cervical posture in subjects with a different sagittal morphology of the face, i.e., a different skeletal class. One hundred twenty (120) children (60 males and 60 females, average age 9.5 yrs., SD+/-0.5) were admitted for orthodontic treatment. Selection criteria was: European ethnic origin, date of birth, considerable skeletal growth potential r

Condylar volume changes in class II division 2 cases treated with unlocking the mandible using clear aligners.

INTRODUCTION: Class II Division 2 malocclusion involves retroclined maxillary incisors and deep overbite, often accompanied by mandibular retrusion. "Unlocking" the mandible by proclining the maxillary incisors, correcting the deep bite, and expanding the maxillary arch has been used to treat this malocclusion. However, the impact of this treatment, using Invisalign® clear aligners, on condylar volume remains unclear. This study evaluates three-dimensional changes in condylar volume after using Invisalign® to unlock the mandible in Class II Division 2 growing patients. METHODS: Cone-beam comp
