The purpose of this study was to investigate the principal characteristics of allergic diseases caused by common allergenic metals. For this, a thorough search of relevant information presented for 2018-2023 in the Embase, PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases was conducted. The study found that one third of the world's population suffers from allergies, and 20% of them are diagnosed with metal allergies. This work presents coal analyses for heavy metal content (Tl, Cu, Zn, Cd, Fe). The tested coal samples came from a Russian deposit in the Kuzbass Basin (Novosibirsk and Kemerovo Oblasts, near Kazakhstan) and from Poland. The concentration of thallium in coal was determined using DPASV-differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry-and other metals were examined with FAAS, i.e., flame atomic absorption spectrometry. Tauopathies are characterized by the pathological accumulation of the microtubule associated protein tau within the brain. We demonstrate here that a copper/zinc chaperone (PBT2, Prana Biotechnology) has rapid and profound effects in the rTg(tauP301L)4510 mouse model of tauopathy. This was evidenced by significantly improved cognition, a preservation of neurons, a decrease in tau aggregates and a decrease in other forms of "pathological" tau (including phosphorylated tau and sarkosyl-insoluble tau). Among parturient women in Lubumbashi, blood lead concentrations [geometric means (25th-75th percentiles)] were higher among 40 women with preeclampsia [6.66 µg/dL (5.16-79.4)] than among 39 control women matched for age and gestation duration [5.08 µg/dL (4.27-6.30)].
