Twenty patients (22 knees) treated by arthroscopic removal of the anterior tibial osteophyte were selected for review from more than 150 arthroscopic debridements of the knee over a 5-year period (1986-1991). All the patients were middle-aged active individuals with competitive sports activity in their past. This study was undertaken to characterize the epidemiology and clinical presentation of infection with Chlamydia pneumoniae in a population composed primarily of middle-aged and older adults. Pharyngeal swabs and acute and convalescent phase sera were obtained from outpatients presenting with signs and symptoms of an acute respiratory infection. Sera were examined using the micro-immunofluorescence (MIF) test to detect antibody to Chlamydia pneumoniae and complement fixation tests to detect Mycoplasma pneumoniae, influenza A virus, influenza B virus, respiratory syncytial virus and adenovirus.

This study is a report of neurological cases in a teaching hospital during the year 1991. Out of 2,34,021 new patients seen in the hospital, 1153 (0.49 percent) were referred to the neurology clinic. 27.6 percent were above 40 years of age. 70 percent in this age group were males and 30 percent were females. There has been virtually no research on the relationship of age and MMPI subscales, such as the Harris and Lingoes, Wiggins, Subtle/Obvious, and other specialized subscales. A laryngocele is an air-filled swelling of the upper pouch (the sacculus) of the laryngeal ventricle of Morgagni, which may herniate through the thyro-hyoid membrane to form a mass which is palpable subcutaneously in the neck. The condition is rare, but is found at times in individuals with laryngeal malignancy and in individuals who have been pre-disposed to it by increased internal laryngeal pressure. When the condition is discovered it is always an indication for a thorough examination of the larynx, with follow-up, bearing in mind the possibility of malignancy.

Hamartomas are benign neoplasms most commonly arising in the lung, typically identified as incidental solitary pulmonary nodules. Occurrence in the mediastinum is exceedingly rare. Because anterior mediastinal lesions are most often malignant, hamartomas in this location pose a diagnostic challenge. We present the case of a 53-year-old female with a background of endometrial carcinoma who was evaluated for chest pain and palpitations. A chest radiograph revealed a large opacity in the left upper hemithorax, corresponding to a well-circumscribed anterior mediastinal mass on computed tomography.
