A stability-indicating micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC) method was developed and validated for simultaneous analysis of delapril (DEL) and manidipine (MAN) using salicylic acid as an internal standard. The MEKC method was performed using a fused-silica capillary (effective length of 72 cm) with 50 mM of borate buffer and 5 mM of anionic surfactant sodium dodecylsulfate at pH 9.0 as the background electrolyte. A comparison has been made of the 'flare-up' of 2,4-dinitrofluorobenzene (DNFB) contact reactions with that of 'flare-up' of potassium dichromate (K2Cr2O7) contact sensitivity reactions following the intravenous injection of dinitrobenzenesulphonic acid (DNBSO3) or K2Cr2O7. Differences in time course were noted and these were confirmed by increase in vascular permeability and histological appearance. We have developed quantitative methods which enable us to measure susceptibility to sensitization with dinitrochlorobenzene (DNBC) and the degree of responsiveness of groups, and to analyse factors affecting the afferent and efferent components of the response. Five groups of normal subjects (132 individuals) were sensitized with DNCB (1,000, 500, 250, 125 or 62.5 micrograms). Twenty-one patients suffering from multiple common warts were treated by topically-applied dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB). After an average treatment period of 8.7 weeks, the warts had completely disappeared in twelve patients. Therapeutic failure must be admitted in five patients, whereby, sensitization to DNCB was not possible in two of these cases. Four patients did not complete the therapeutic regimen. Indications, advantages, disadvantages and side effects of this therapeutic method are discussed and an attempt is made to explain the underlying mechanism of this form of treatment.
