The vibration perception thresholds (VPT) at six frequencies from 16 to 500 Hz were examined in 77 workers exposed to hand-arm vibration and in 77 controls using a limits procedure. A dose-response relationship between VPTs and exposure to vibration was found, and the age-adjusted VPTs at each frequency were higher in workers exposed to vibration than in controls. Carpal tunnel syndrome (at 250 Hz) and consumption of alcohol (at 125 Hz) significantly increased the VPT, but vibration-induced white finger was not correlated with VPT. Stereoperception in two acallosal patients and two partial callosotomy patients was compared with that of three normal subjects. All three patients with the splenium missing, whether due to agenesis or surgical intervention, showed midline deficits and broadly similar profiles; namely, they made few uncrossed midline responses. By recording eye movements while subjects fixated a stationary stimulus and reported on its apparent position, four experiments tested whether Hering's laws of visual direction describe monocular perception of egocentric direction. Experiments 1, 2, and 3 alternately covered each eye. Experiments 1 and 2 showed that the stimulus appeared to displace leftward when the left eye was occluded, and vice versa. We have reviewed 500 consecutive prostatectomies with a follow-up period of between 5 and 8 years; 184 surviving patients were sent a questionnaire and patients with residual urinary symptoms were interviewed, examined and a flow rate was performed. The operative mortality rate was 0.5%. Patients who presented with retention of urine had a high mortality rate in the first 3 years after the operation. Vision deficiencies are dominant symptoms from digitalis intoxication. Twenty-nine and twenty-eight patients have been examined by the Farnsworth-Munsell-100-Hue-test under common maintenance therapy with digitoxin respectively digoxin or beta-acetyldigoxin. This was done to prove how glycosides may create colour vision disturbances even in "therapeutic" glycoside serum concentrations, and in which degree the lipophile digitoxin differs in its effect from the less lipophile digoxin. In an outbreak of benign myalgic encephalomyelitis in a girls' school all the residential pupils, both those affected and those unaffected, were investigated. Special virological tests were essentially negative, but it seemed that a few girls had had a viral infection. Psychological testing showed that among younger girls the patients were more neurotic than the others. This 14-year-old patient with bilateral simultaneous papillitis experienced no light perception in either eye for 24 hours and had a complete recovery of central and peripheral vision 3 weeks later. Fluorescein angiography confirmed the diagnosis. Although her hospital work-up was negative except for a mildly elevated CSF protein, it seems most likely that this was a postviral syndrome based on the bilaterality, rapid recovery of vision, and the age group.

Synthetic data are most valuable where general-purpose datasets cannot provide the domain-specific priors a task requires, and where manual annotation is expensive, imprecise, or infeasible. In this article we argue that the central question for specialized vision systems is not how to generate more data, but which data to generate. We therefore discuss curated synthetic data, whose scene content, appearance variations, sensing characteristics, and annotations are deliberately designed around a given task.
