This prospective observational study was performed on young patients, less than 24 years old, with first-time, traumatic anterior shoulder dislocations. These patients were offered either arthroscopic or nonoperative treatment. Fifty-three patients chose nonoperative treatment. Sixty-three patients elected to have arthroscopic procedures. The average patient age was 19.6 years. There were 59 men and 4 women. All procedures were performed within 10 days of dislocation. All 63 patients had hemarthrosis. Infectious aortitis is rarely diagnosed before it becomes an infectious aortic aneurysm, and its optimal management remains less well established compared to that of infectious aortic aneurysms. OBJECTIVE: The study goals were to (1) identify the typical time from a concussion injury to initial physical therapy (PT) evaluation, and (2) explore concussion subtypes (complexity) across time (diagnosis visit vs PT evaluation). We anticipated the median time from concussion to PT evaluation would be 61 days, and that a greater time from injury to PT evaluation would be associated with greater symptom complexity. BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: This case report describes the examination, intervention, and outcome of a patient following the surgical reconstruction of a grade III acromioclavicular (AC) joint separation. Detailed postoperative interventions have not previously been described in the literature.
CASE DESCRIPTION: The patient was a 34-year-old male college professor with a left grade III AC joint separation and no prior restrictions of upper-extremity function. After 12 weeks of presurgical treatment, the patient's complaints included crepitus and the inability to push open heavy doors.
