Giant pigmented apocrine hidrocystoma of the scalp.

Hidrocystomas are benign cysts of sweat duct epithelium that can present as single or multiple lesions, with or without pigmentation. The size is typically 1-3mm in diameter. Although hidrocystomas commonly occur in most parts of the head and neck region, occurrence on the scalp is rare. Herein, we present a 29-year-old woman with a giant pigmented apocrine hidrocystoma of the scalp, which, to our knowledge, represents the largest of its kind reported to date.

Pancreatic Extraskeletal Osteosarcoma Metastasizing to the Scalp.

Extraskeletal osteosarcoma (ESOS) is a rare mesenchymal soft-tissue neoplasm that accounts for approximately 1% of all soft-tissue sarcomas. Over 70% of these malignant tumor progress to local recurrence and metastasis. It commonly metastasizes to the lungs, lymph nodes, bone, and skin and has a poor survival outcome. Cutaneous metastasis is exceedingly rare and known to be a sign of widespread metastases. We present a 57-year-old woman who presented with a rapidly growing protuberant mass on the scalp that was finally diagnosed as metastatic ESOS from a primary pancreatic ESOS. To our knowled…

Focal Scalp Hair Heterochromia in an Infant.

Hair heterochromia involves the presence of two different non-artificially induced colours of hair in the same individual which can be due to either iron deficiency anaemia, genetic mutations or mosaicism. We report a six-month old male infant who presented to the Department of Dermatology, Saham Hospital, Saham, Oman, in 2013 with focal scalp hair heterochromia without any detectable underlying abnormalities. The area of heterochromia was still noticeable at a one-year follow-up.
