The clinical features associated with different classes of leprosy patients co-infected with HIV in Maiduguri was studied and the classification of leprosy was done clinically and bacteriologically using Ridley-Jopling classification and bacteriological index respectively. The cases were classified as paucibacillary (Tuberculoid--TT and Borderline Tuberculoid--BTT) and multibacillary (Borderline Borderline--BB, Borderline Lepromatous BL and Lepromatous Leprosy--LL) leprosy. A review of twenty two cases of childhood non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (NHLs) seen at the King Khalid National Guard Hospital, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, between January 1985 and June 1993 was done. The mean age of occurrence was 7.2 years with a male to female ratio of 2.7:1. The commonly seen NHLs were the high grade tumours (95%), mainly lymphoblastic and Burkitt's type lymphomas. An investigative study was carried out in 340 cases of established pulmonary and presumed pleural tuberculosis for co-occurrence of HIV-1 infection in them. Confirmatory screening for HIV-1 was carried out with both ELISA (Vironostika) and Serodia commercial kits in all reactive samples on first screening. In all, 16 cases proved to be having HIV-1 coexistent infection with pulmonary tuberculosis. Their preliminary vital clinical observations and roentogenic finding are summarized and literature reviewed briefly.

Of 1146 caprine necropsy or biopsy specimens submitted from 1987 through 2011 to the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory at Oregon State University, 100 goats (8.7%) had 102 tumors. Detailed records were available for 89 cases. Fifty-five goats were female, 17 were castrated males, and 12 were intact males. Breeds included 21 Nubian, 16 Pygmy, 10 Pygora, 8 Alpine, 4 Angora, 4 Saanen, 2 Toggenburg, and 9 crossbred goats. Human sparganosis is caused by cestode larvae (spargana) of the genus Spirometra, which exploit copepods as the first intermediate host. A wide range of amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals serve as second intermediate/paratenic hosts. Human infections occur mainly by ingesting raw intermediate/paratenic hosts.
