Purpose: To describe a case of granulomatous anterior uveitis and histologically confirmed chronic granulomatous conjunctivitis in the presence of common variable immune deficiency (CVID). Methods: Interventional case report. Results: A 72-year-old female with a history of CVID treated with regular intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) infusions developed chronic conjunctivitis and granulomatous anterior uveitis. PURPOSE: This study was conducted to determine blood flow velocities and corresponding vessel diameters to characterize the response of the bulbar conjunctival microvasculature to contact lens wear.
METHODS: A functional slit-lamp biomicroscope (FSLB), an adapted traditional slitlamp, was used to image the temporal bulbar conjunctiva of 22 healthy subjects before and after 6 hr of contact lens wear. All of the measurable venules on the conjunctiva were processed to yield vessel diameters and blood flow velocities.
RESULTS: The average blood flow velocity increased from 0.51±0.20 to 0.65±0.22

A highly myopic patient complained of 2 months of visual acuity loss and 4 months of ocular pain in the right eye after 16 years after bilateral cataract extraction. The slit lamp microscopy examination showed a residual lens capsule dislocation in the right anterior chamber of the eye, which was diagnosed as a residual lens capsule dislocation in the right eye. After diagnosis and timely treatment, the patient's postoperative vision and visual field recovered well.

We report on a 52-year-old male patient presenting with unilateral loss of vision of one week's duration. Pellucid marginal corneal degeneration was known. Slit lamp examination showed pronounced corneal edema as defined by acute corneal hydrops. After inferior preventive YAG iridotomy through clear cornea, intracameral air injection was performed. Deep stromal 10-0 nylon sutures were applied along the Descemet's membrane tear. The next day, the corneal edema had already begun to decrease.

PURPOSE: To report a case of unilateral corneal hydrops associated with vernal conjunctivitis as a presenting sign of keratoconus.
METHOD: Case report. A 10-year-old girl with corneal hydrops of the left eye.
RESULT: Visual acuity in the affected eye was hand motions and slit-lamp examination revealed a left keratoconic, ectasis, edematous cornea with mild vernal conjunctivitis.
CONCLUSION: Hereditary and environmental factors may contribute to the etiology of keratoconus and corneal hydrops.

A female patient in the age group 55-60 years presented to us with blurring of vision in both eyes. On slit-lamp examination, numerous circular to oval fleck-like discrete blue opacities at the level of deep corneal stroma and Descemet's membrane was observed. These lesions were predominantly seen in the central two-thirds of the cornea. Considering the age of presentation and the clinical features, the probable diagnosis of 'deep blue dot corneal degeneration' was made.

A 70-year-old woman came to ophthalmology outpatient department with complaints of repeated episodes of itching, redness and watering in both eyes of 3 months duration. She was treated with antibiotics elsewhere but had no improvement. Slit lamp examination showed lice and nits anchored to the eyelashes. Light microscopic examination of the matted eye lashes and crusts further helped in identification of the ectoparasites as Phthirus pubis (Pubic louse or Crab louse) with typical morphology.

In 14 patients with unilateral Horner's syndrome there was a significant increase in central corneal thickness on the affected side (mean difference 4.86 micron +/- SEM 1.71 micron; P less than 0.02). It is suggested that the sympathetic nerve supply of the eye is of importance for corneal hydration. Different possible mechanisms are discussed. Among the investigated patients no permanent ocular hypotonia or hyperaemia was found. On slit-lamp investigation there was no corneal change. The corneal sensitivity was equal on both sides.

A 42-year-old woman was admitted to Mersin University, Department of Ophthalmology Clinic with itching and burning sensation of the right eye for 3 weeks. In her slit-lamp examination, nits and lice, attached to the upper and lower eyelashes of her right eye, were observed. Lice and nits were destroyed by argon laser phototherapy and were removed with the help of a fine forceps thereafter. There is a wide variety of conjunctival tumors. A good diagnosis can be reached by discussing the case history with the patient in conjunction with a slit-lamp examination. Presented here is the case of a 39-year-old patient with a rapidly growing conjunctival tumor on his left eye. After tumor resection and histological analysis, a plasmacytoma was found. The completed hemato-oncological analysis gave no further suspicious pathological results, leading to the diagnosis of a solitary extramedullary plasmacytoma. Percutaneous radiotherapy was carried out.

CASE REPORT: We present the case of a man from Cameroon who was referred because of the presence of a worm in both eyes, intermittently, over a five-year period. Slit-lamp examination revealed a creeping worm under the conjunctiva. Its surgical removal enabled microbiologic confirmation of a mature form of Loa-Loa.
DISCUSSION: Loiasis is a parasitic disease endemic in Africa. Because of the increase of African emigration to Spain, the possibility of this condition must be considered in Spain.

A 59-year-old hypertensive man presented to eye casualty complaining of blurring of vision in his right eye. There was no history of any trauma or coagulation defects. Examination revealed a 4 mm hyphaema in his right eye with no evidence of rubeosis or traumatic squeal. The intraocular pressure was 32 mm Hg. The normal transparency of the cornea permits detailed in vivo study of several human pathologic conditions. Many systemic diseases are associated with corneal dystrophies which are manifested by haziness, opacification, crystalline deposition, or discoloration. Although these abnormal states can sometimes be seen grossly, biomicroscopy with slit lamp illumination is necessary for an exact morphologic description. Only precise delineation can lead to an accurate diagnosis of the corneal disorder and thus provide clues for an associatkd systemic disease.

The proximity required of a thorough biomicroscopic slit-lamp examination may put ophthalmologists at increased risk for respiratory-borne infection with SARS-CoV-2. Conjunctivitis has been described in a few patients with COVID-19 and other coronavirus syndromes. Although SARS-CoV-2 has been detected in the conjunctival secretions or tears of patients with COVID-19 and conjunctivitis, transmission of infection through respiratory droplets to ophthalmologists without eye protection or masks may be the bigger concern.

A 17-year-old-male with Sickle Cell Disease underwent allogenic bone marrow transplant. Two years after the transplant the patient developed violaceous lichenoid papules coalescing into plaques over the face and upper extremities complaining of decrease visual acuity, foreign body sensation, and eye pain. A slit lamp examination showed injected conjunctiva, superficial I punctate keratopathy and decreased baseline Schirmmer test. Dermatologic evaluation and biopsy demonstrated chronic graft versus host disease along with the diagnosis of secondary keratoconjunctivitis sicca.

PURPOSE: To report the germicidal range ultraviolet (UV) irradiation-induced phototoxicity because of unprotected exposure to the UV lamps for presumed household disinfection of SARS-CoV-2 in a domestic setting.
