This article details a modified method of tactile localization for deep pulmonary nodules of less than 20 mm size and at a distance of more than 15 mm from the visceral pleura. Sixteen patients with deep nodules were successfully located and underwent subsequent thoracoscopic wedge resection. This technique is a continuance of the traditional finger-tough method, which can be an effective complementary technique.

A best evidence topic in thoracic surgery was written according to a structured protocol. This study compared open and video-assisted minilaparotomy surgery in live kidney donors for quality of life (QoL), pain, cosmesis, and recovery. Between January 2003 and March 2006, we reviewed data from 205 patients who underwent live-donor nephrectomy: 116 by video-assisted minilaparotomy and 89 by open surgery. Spontaneous pneumothorax during pregnancy is a rare pathological condition. Few cases have been reported previously in the literature. There is no universal guideline for the management of this condition yet. We report a case of recurrent spontaneous pneumothorax during twin pregnancy in a 30-year-old woman. Surgical treatment under video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) was successfully performed, without subsequent pneumothorax recurrence.
