Elective surgery of the vitreoretinal interface is currently the most common reason for vitrectomy in Germany. The evaluation and correct interpretation of spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) images is of great importance but the indications for vitrectomy in macular surgery should be based more on patient symptoms and not only the OCT findings. Watchful waiting is highlighted as an alternative therapeutic option in individual patients. PURPOSE: Wide-field (WF) swept-source (SS) optical coherence tomography angiography (SS-OCTA) was used to image diabetic tractional retinal detachments (TRDs) before and after pars plana vitrectomy. The clinical utility of SS-OCTA was assessed.

To determine surgical results and predictive factors of final visual acuity, a total of 30 eyes in 30 uveitis patients who underwent vitreous surgery including pars plana vitrectomy were followed for at least 6 months and various preoperative factors and postoperative results were analyzed. PURPOSE: To describe our experience with management of eyes with stage 5 retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).
METHODS: Closed vitreoretinal surgery was done on 96 eyes of patients with stage 5 ROP. Lens was sacrificed in all but one eye. Surgery involved an attempt to clear all preretinal tissue and open the peripheral trough all round. In most instances bimanual surgery under viscoelastic was performed.

BACKGROUND: We investigated the outcome of 23-gauge transconjunctival pars plana vitrectomy (23G PPV) for the treatment of vitreoretinal disorder in patients with prior trabeculectomy.
METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed medical records of 23G PPV in 11 eyes that had functioning filtering blebs after trabeculectomy.
