Ectopic breast cancer in vulva and other non-axillary sites: a systematic review.

BACKGROUND: Ectopic breast cancer (EBC) is a rare malignancy (0.3–0.6% of all breast cancers) that arises along the embryological milk line. While axillary EBC is better characterised and typically managed similarly to orthotopic breast cancer, the clinical features and management of non-axillary EBC remain poorly defined. AIM: To synthesise available data on the clinical presentation, histopathology, management, and outcomes of non-axillary EBC to refine treatment strategies. METHODS: A systematic review of case reports and case series was conducted following PRISMA 2020 guidelines and regist

Cancer of the vulva: 2025 update: FIGO Cancer Report 2025.

Vulvar cancer is an uncommon gynecological malignancy primarily affecting postmenopausal women. No specific screening exists and the most effective strategy to reduce the incidence of vulvar cancer is the opportune treatment of predisposing and preneoplastic lesions associated with its development. Although vulvar cancer may be asymptomatic, most women present with vulvar pruritus or pain or have noticed a lump or ulcer. Therefore, any suspicious vulvar lesion should be biopsied to exclude invasion. Once established, the most common subtype is squamous cell carcinoma. The treatment of vulvar c

Angiomyofibroblastoma of Vulva in a Very Young Adult Female: A Rare Case Report.

Angiomyofibroblastoma is a rare, well circumscribed benign mesenchymal neoplasm, usually arising in the pelviperineal region, especially the vulva and apparently composed of stromal cells distinctive to this anatomic region. Preoperative diagnosis of Angiomyofibroblastoma is very difficult, mostly diagnosed as Barthloin cyst due to its anatomical location. It is a histological diagnosis. In this article we report a case of Angiomyofibroblastoma of vulva.

Bilateral Giant Fibroepithelial Labial Mass: A Case Report.

BACKGROUND: Fibro-epithelial polyps are benign soft tissue lesions that occur in a wide variety of sites, including the lower female genital tract. They exhibit a wide range of morphologic appearances and can be misinterpreted as malignant. These polyps therefore pose adiagnostic challenge to both the clinician and the pathologist. CASE: A 26-year-old woman presented with a bilateral labial mass; the mass on the right labium measured 32 × 29 cm and weighed 1.84 kg, and the mass on the left labium measured 10 × 8 cm in dimension and weighed 0.57 kg. They were polypoid lesions localized on the

Vulvar Fibroepithelial Polyps in a Female Adolescent: A Case Report.

BACKGROUND: Fibroepithelial polyps (FEPs) are benign tumors, of possibly hormone-dependent nature, found in the vulvovaginal region of women of reproductive age. CASE: A 15-year-old adolescent girl, receiving hormonal contraceptive therapy, who presented with multiple vulvar masses with histopathology consistent with FEP. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION: The spectrum of the morphology of FEPs might make their diagnosis challenging. We describe a rare presentation of vulvar FEPs in an adolescent girl receiving hormonal contraceptive therapy.

Endometrial carcinoma metastatic to the clitoris: a case report and review of the literature.

Endometrial cancer generally carries a good prognosis. Endometrial carcinoma more frequently metastasizes to the pelvic and para-aortic nodes. Visceral metastases usually occur in the vagina and ovaries. Distant metastases involve lungs and occur as a terminal event. This case report describes vulvalar metastasis of endometrial cancer to the clitoris. Metastatic tumors of the vulva are rare. Moreover, in the presence of metastatic endometrial carcinoma to the vulva, it is necessary to verify if other visceral metastases are present. Endometrial cancer can extend through direct dermatogens and

Angiokeratoma of the vulva.

Angiokeratomas are benign tumors characterized by ectasia of blood vessels in the papillary dermis associated with acanthosis and hyperkeratosis of the epidermis. Dermatological examination of angiokeratomas of Fordyce is characterized by papular keratotic lesions of erythematous-violet color. They are more common in the scrotum, and vulvar involvement is rarely reported. Histopathology is particularly important to distinguish them from other benign and malignant tumors. The article reports the case of a middle-aged black woman with a history of chronic constipation, varicose veins of the lowe

Angiomyofibroblastoma of the right ischiorectal fosa.

BACKGROUND: angiomyofibroblastoma is a soft-tissue lesion. The vulvovaginal region of middle-aged females is the most frequent localization. Angiomyofibroblastoma is a well-circumscribed subcutaneous tumor at the vulva and perineum region. It is a painful and slow-growing tumor. It is often thought to represent a Bartholin's gland cyst. Treatment of choice is surgical excision. CLINICAL CASE: We describe the case of a 49-year-old female with a right vulvar tumor that had been growing for 2 years. Ultrasonography, computed tomography and magnetic resonance revealed a tumor at the right ischior

Vulvar mammary-type myofibroblastoma: a case report.

BACKGROUND: Mammary-type myofibroblastomas have been reported at extramammary sites, especially along the mammary midline, but not previously in the vulva. CASE: A 56-year-old woman presented with complaints of a left vulvar mass, pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence. Examination revealed a 3-cm,firm vulvar mass, located in close proximity to the Bartholin's gland. CONCLUSION: Although myofibroblastomas have been reported at extramammary sites, this is this first reported case in the vulva. These masses are densely adherent to surrounding tissue, which can lead to a difficult disse

Aggressive angiomyxoma of vulva recurring 8 years after initial diagnosis.

BACKGROUND: Aggressive angiomyxoma is an uncommon soft tissue tumor which preferentially involves pelvic and vulvoperineal regions of young adult females. The typical characteristics include gelatinous appearance and locally infiltrative nature without evidence of nuclear atypia or mitosis. Treatment involves surgery, but local recurrence is high in spite of apparently complete surgical resection. CASE: A 28-year-old woman who had had a history of surgically excised aggressive angiomyxoma of vulva presented with a complaint of vulvar mass. The mass was removed and histopathologic examination

Recurrent vulval congenital lymphangioma circumscriptum--a case report and literature review.

Lymphangioma circumscriptum (LC) is a defect of lymphatics in deep dermis. This abnormal saccular dilatation of lymphatics occurs in dermal papillae visible as vesicles clinically. The entity may be acquired or congenital. The occurrence of congenital variety of LC in vulva is extremely rare, with only few cases reported in the literature. We communicate one such case presenting as recurrent vulval growth along with a review of literature and treatment modalities.

Breast cancer metastatic to the vulva.

BACKGROUND: Primary cancer of the vulva is not common, constituting only 3-5% of all gynecologic malignancies and <1% of all cancer in the female. Metastatic tumors of the vulva are even more unusual, constituting only 5-8% of all vulvar cancers. CASE: A 32-year-old female underwent total mastectomy with axillary lymph node dissection for left breast cancer. The patient was well with a postoperative follow-up period of 40 months till a 1.2-cm lump was noted in her left labium majus. Excisional biopsy was performed and histologic examination was done. Pathologic examination of the breast cance
