Violence against heath care workers in Iraq has reached an 'epidemic' level. It affects health care providers, receivers of care and the hea … iolent attacks. The results showed that 82% of the participants were either exposed to or witnessed workplace violence. The highest prevalence was among young newly graduated house officers. The source was mostly the patients' companions/relatives, and mainly attributed to work overload and lack of medicines/supplies. A significant positive association was found bet …

BACKGROUND: Within the last decades, a substantial number of reports have established bullying behaviours as a severe risk to the health and safety of workers. However, in Hungary, the severity of this issue remains largely unknown. Therefore, the current study aimed to 1) determine the prevalence of offensive workplace behaviours in the Hungarian working population and 2) examine the relationship between exposure to these offensive behaviours and certain mental health indicators.

Workplace violence, defined as violent acts directed toward workers, includes physical assault, threat of assault, and verbal abuse and is widely recognized as a threat to workers' health and safety. Healthcare workers, especially nurses, are known to be at high risk. As employees who work alone, have access to drugs, provide care to people in distress, and/or have frequent close contact with clients, they face a greater likelihood of exposure to violence. Nurses' risk has been correlated with degree of patient contact; the odds of physical violence are 7.2 and 9.0 times greater for healthcare…

METHODS: Sequential explanatory mixed methods were applied in five western provinces of Iran from 2022 to 2023. In total, 358 EMTs that met the criteria for the quantitative phase were se…

We explored the causes and circumstances of violent behaviour among a group of child labourers in the Indian unorganized sectors. From 14 categories of occupations, a total of 1,400 child labourers were interviewed in both urban and rural areas. The average family size of these mostly illiterate child labourers is seven, and average family income is 3,200 INR per month. In the short term child labourers become violent, aggressive, and criminal, following a pyramid of violent behaviour, including socio-economic pressure, cultural deviance, and psychological pressure. AIMS: To explore the verbal violence experience among Chinese nursing students in clinical practice, and the strategies used by nursing students to cope with violence.
DESIGN: A descriptive qualitative study.

Emergency department (ED) violence is a significant problem in many hospitals. This study identified the incidence of violence by patients towards nurses in two EDs. Of the 71 ED nurses who participated, 50 (70%) reported 110 episodes of violence in a five-months period. That is approximately five violent incidents per week. Violence was reported most often on evening shifts (n=41, 37%). The nurses' perceived that the perpetrators of violence were under the influence of al

METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional survey of healthcare workers in Brazilian EDs. Respondents indicated verbal and physical violence experienced within the preceding six months, along with associated psychological and occupational impacts. Univariable m…
