Kyrle's disease is an uncommon dermatologic entity with characteristic clinical and histopathologic features. A case is recorded in a 63-year-old man undergoing hemodialysis for chronic renal failure. Systemic isotretinoin treatment for 13 weeks resulted in a complete clearance of the cutaneous lesions. Systemic treatment is effective and could be considered preferred therapy.

A case is reported of cervical spinal cord lipoma with extension into the posterior fossa and a leading symptom of apnea. A C1-C7 laminectomy and debulking of the medullary portion of the lipoma were performed with good results. The apneic spells were completely resolved. Intraspinal lipoma with posterior fossa extension is a rare condition and requires surgical intervention to relieve symptoms.

When ingested, the common house plant dieffenbachia can lead to significant toxicity and possibly death if timely medical attention is not forthcoming following initial exposure. The deleterious effects should not be overlooked especially when children are involved who, naturally curious, may bite into this innocuous looking plant. Eighty-one consecutive cholecystectomies were retrospectively reviewed; five were dropped because of incomplete data. The remaining 76 were divided into group A, patients who underwent a limited incision cholecystectomy (LIC) defined as less than 10 centimeters, and group B, those who underwent a standard subcostal incision (STD). Contact dermatitis is common. Occupational contact dermatitis is one of the commonest occupational diseases. Allergic contact dermatitis to topical medications is frequent. This article provides an update on the two main types of contact dermatitis: irritant and allergic. Use of halothane anesthesia for treating respiratory failure caused by status asthmaticus in children is highly controversial. Previous reports suggest that bronchodilation occurs within minutes of administration. This report describes the case of a child who received five and a half hours of halothane in conjunction with isoproterenol and theophylline to reverse respiratory failure. Halothane did not significantly improve ventilation, and it was associated with significant hemodynamic complications. The use of newer beta-2-agonists and anticholinergics is discussed.
