An aortic graft-duodenal fistula commonly requires graft replacement and duodenectomy. However, the appropriate surgical approach to the duodenum with aortic graft fistula remains unclear. BACKGROUND: Colovesical fistula (CVF) is an uncommon complication of diverticulitis. Substantial heterogeneity exists in the perioperative management of this condition. We seek to evaluate the role of bladder leak testing, closed suction drainage, prolonged bladder catheter usage, and routine postoperative cystogram in the management of CVF.

A primary fistula between the abdominal aorta and the duodenum is rare and usually fatal. Atherosclerosis remains the most common etiologic factor, accounting for more than two-thirds of the cases reported. BACKGROUND: Bouveret's syndrome is an unusual presentation of duodenal obstruction caused by the passage of a large gallstone through a cholecystoduodenal fistula. Endoscopic therapy has been used as first-line treatment, especially in patients with high surgical risk.
CASE PRESENTATION: We report a 67-year-old woman who underwent an endoscopic attempt to fragment and retrieve a duodenal stone using a Holmium: Yttrium-Aluminum-Garnet Laser (Ho:YAG) which resulted in small bowel obstruction. The patient successfully underwent enterolithotomy without cholecystectomy or closure of the fistula.

From October 1988 to March 1995, we operated 22 patients for fistulization between the prosthesis and the digestive tract to remove the in situ allograft. The delay between the initial operation and treatment for fistulization was 7.3 +/- 4 years.
