For decades, hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been considered a treatment option in patients with chronic radiation-induced proctitis after pelvic radiation therapy. Refractory cases of chronic radiation-induced proctitis include ulceration, stenosis, and intestinal fistulas with perforation. Appropriate treatment needs to be given. BACKGROUND: The cause and frequency of the acute abdomen in patients undergoing hemodialysis are not well reported. Previous studies associate bowel infarction with hemodialysis, but dialysis generally is not implicated as a risk factor for mesenteric ischemia.

The hydraulic ileal valve, which we developed in 1975, ensures continence by adapting to 5 different urinary reservoirs. The clinical courses of 60 children suffering from ulcerative Colitis (UC, n = 21) and Crohn's disease (CD, n = 39) were investigated over a period of 8.7 and 5.1 years respectively. Thirty-five cases of biliary atresia that demonstrated the creation of internal fistula between intrahepatic bile ducts at the portahepatis and intestine and showed long-term bile flow after our hepatic portoenterostomy were investigated from various aspects. A study was made of the radiological findings in 57 patients with a clinical diagnosis of analgesic nephropathy. The ages of the patients ranged from 27 to 72 years, and females predominated over males in the ratio 4-7 to 1. Renal failure varied from mild to very severe and the patients showed the usual high incidence of analgesic-induced gastro-intestinal, haematological and neurological disorders. Giant colonic diverticulum is a rare entity first described in 1946 by Bonvin and Bonte. It may be congenital or acquired and the average age of presentation is 65.
