Behçet's disease (BD) is a systemic immune-mediated vasculitis of unclear origin. Major symptoms include oral aphthous ulcers, genital ulcerations, skin lesions, and ocular lesions. Eye involvement, which affects 60-80% of BD patients, is characterized by posterior or panuveitis with occlusive retinal vasculitis. Thirty years ago, Mollon, Stockman, & Polden (1987) reported that after the onset of intense yellow 581-nm backgrounds, S-cone threshold rose unexpectedly for several seconds before recovering to the light-adapted steady-state value-an effect they called: "transient-tritanopia of the second kind" (TT2). PURPOSE: To test the hypothesis that rod-mediated visual thresholds at 10 degrees eccentricity are elevated in children with histories of mild retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).
METHODS: Dark-adapted thresholds for detection of 50 msec, 2 degrees diameter spots at a 10 degrees eccentric site, and at a peripheral reference site, 30 degrees eccentric, were measured in 20 children with a history of mild ROP and known courses of refractive development. Ten myopic control subjects also were tested. The thresholds of the ROP and control subjects were compared.

UNLABELLED: The aim of this study was to document plasma retinol status and nocturnal vision in ten eutrophic adolescents with cystic fibrosis (CF) receiving daily retinol supplementation. Plasma retinol, alpha and beta carotenes and retinol binding protein were measured in ten clinically stable CF patients (mean age: 14.3 years; Shwachman score: 80-100). Three patients with a bull's-eye macular lesion and other signs characteristic of cone dystrophy gave an unusual ERG finding. In response to a white flash of moderate intensity the scotopic b-wave amplitude was considerably larger than normal. OBJECTIVE: To detect long-term ocular alteration of children with malignant osteopetrosis after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
METHODS: Children diagnosed as osteopetrosis from 5 months to 31 months underwent hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Computed tomography of optic canal, FVEP, ERG and fundus examination were applied to assess the visual function.
