[Isolated primary hyperaldosteronism caused by adrenocortical carcinoma].

OBJECTIVE: To report a case of adrenocortical carcinoma and primary aldosteronism as the sole endocrine manifestation. METHODS/RESULTS: A 39-year-old male with adrenocortical carcinoma and primary aldosteronism is presented. Following complete hormonal and radiological evaluation, right adrenalectomy and nephrectomy were performed (pT2pN0M0, stage II). Blood pressure, serum potassium and aldosterone levels returned to normal. The patient received adjuvant therapy with carboplatin and etoposide. After 15 months' disease-free interval, lung metastasis was diagnosed, without evidence of local re

Adrenocortical carcinoma in a child with specific pedigree of family associated with cancer aggregation.

We report on a 5-year-old boy with functioning adrenocortical carcinoma as a proband of a specific pedigree with several young family members who had cancer. Most of the members who died of cancer had early onset of osteosarcoma, hepatoblastoma or malignant lymphoma. The finding of cancer aggregation in the family corresponded to the criteria for the cancer family syndrome.

Congenital adrenal tissue in the lung with adrenal cytomegaly. Case report and review of the literature.

Adrenal cytomegaly is a cellular abnormality found in the fetal and neonatal adrenal gland. It is characterized by large polyhedral cells with granular eosinophilic cytoplasm and irregular pleomorphic nuclei. A case of bilateral adrenal cytomegaly in five-day-old infant with two foci of pulmonary involvement is reported with a review of the literature. The question of whether the pulmonary lesion represents metastasis or cytomegalic change in ectopic adrenal tissue is discussed.

[Comparison the characteristics of serum adrenocortical hormone profile in patients with adrenal cortical carcinoma and adrenal coritcal adenoma].

Objective: To compare the characteristics of serum adrenocortical hormone profiles detected by liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry in patients with adrenal cortical carcinoma and adrenal adenoma. Methods: A total of 23 patients with adrenal cortical carcinoma and 119 patients with adrenal cortical adenoma/hyperplasia who visited the Department of Endocrinology and/or the Department of Urology of Peking University First Hospital from January 2018 to June 2022 were analyzed retrospectively. The imaging characteristics and serum adrenal cortical hormone profiles detected by liquid chro

[Diagnostic value of ct in examination of patients with adrenal cancer].

BACKGROUND: In most cases adrenal tumours are detected by accident while performing medical imaging tests for other diseases. These findings are treated as adrenal incidentaloma. Prevalence of incidentalomas detected on CT scans is up to 4%. According to different authors, 4-12% of all adrenal tumours are adrenocortical carcinomas. As for today, the most significant medical imaging technique is CT scan with bolus IV injection of contrast agent and assessment of tumour's density. The analysis of the results of CT imaging in 67 patients with ACC was carried out according to a single protocol. Th

A rare case of oncocytic adrenocortical carcinoma clinically presented as an incidentaloma.

Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare aggressive tumor originating from adrenocortical parenchymal cells and its incidence is approximately 1 per million population per year. An oncocytic ACC is a recently identified entity among the several known histopathological variants of ACC, which is characterized by oncocytic cells, and only a few cases in the available literature have reported this tumor. In contrast to conventional ACCs, oncocytic ACCs usually manifest as solitary lesions presenting in adults without any sex predilection. We report a case of a 70-year-old Japanese man who presente

Adrenal cortical oncocytoma mimicking pheochromocytoma.

OBJECTIVE: Adrenal tumors present with clinical features and signs unique to their specific hormonal hypersecretion. However, there have been cases in which the clinical expression has been in conflict with the histologic features of the tumor. In this communication we report an unusual clinical presentation of an adrenal cortical tumor with histologic features of an oncocytoma that clinically mimicked a pheochromocytoma. DESIGN: A 49-year old man was referred to our Unit due to type B aortic dissection and a mass of the left adrenal gland. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging c

Spanish consensus on the diagnosis and management of adrenocortical carcinoma.

Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare endocrine malignancy with an estimated incidence of 0.7-2 cases per million/year. The rarity of this disease, coupled with limited preclinical models and clinical trials, has hindered progress, resulting in poor outcomes, with a 5-year survival rate of approximately 35%. Currently, the only available curative treatment is complete surgical resection of the adrenal tumor. For unresectable or metastatic ACC, the current standard therapeutic modalities are mitotane, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and locoregional treatments; however, these are noncurative. Mit

A systematic review of gastritis as an immune-related adverse event in clinical interventions.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are crucial in cancer treatment, and the associated immune-related adverse events (irAEs) have garnered significant attention, yet reports on associated immune related gastritis are limited. The diagnosis of immune related gastritis remains predominantly exclusionary, meanwhile its management diverges significantly from that of conventional gastritis. Current guidelines lack standardized grading criteria, and substantial data from large-scale, tertiary clinical studies are absent, therefore we conducted a systematic review of Medline, Web of Science, and Emb

The molecular genetics of adrenal cushing.

Adrenal Cushing represents 20% of cases of endogenous hypercorticism. Unilateral cortisol-producing adenoma (CPA), a benign tumor, and adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC), a malignant tumor, are more frequent than bilateral adrenal nodular diseases (primary bilateral macronodular adrenal hyperplasia (PBMAH) and primary pigmented nodular adrenal disease (PPNAD)).In cortisol-producing adrenal tumors, the signaling pathways mainly altered are the protein kinase A and Wnt/β-catenin pathways. Studying components of these pathways and exploring syndromic and familial cases of these tumors has historicall
