PURPOSE OF REVIEW: This article reviews the evidence behind mpox antiviral therapies which are clinically available and/or or under clinical investigation. For much of the mpox epidemic, tecovirimat has been used compassionately but there is no evidence of its clinical efficacy.
RECENT FINDINGS: Multiple phase 3 placebo-controlled trials have failed to demonstrate clinical efficacy of tecovirimat in the treatment of mpox.
SUMMARY: This article summarizes the evidence behind current treatment recommendations including tecovirimat, brincidofovir, cidofovir, trifluridine, and VIGIV, as well as

Mpox (formerly "monkeypox") is a viral zoonosis that presents similarly to smallpox but is less contagious and causes less severe disease. Mpox may be transmitted from infected animals to humans through direct contact or a scratch or bite. Human-to-human transmission occurs through direct contact, respiratory droplets, and fomites. Two vaccines, JYNNEOS® and ACAM2000®, are currently available for postexposure prophylaxis as well as for prevention in certain populations at high risk for mpox. Granulomatous interstitial nephritides are uncommon entities in routine clinical practice. Broflanilide, a widely used meta-diamide insecticide, poses severe environmental risks to honeybees (Apis mellifera L.), yet its toxic mechanisms remain unclear. Here we demonstrate that broflanilide functions as a pro-insecticide in honeybees, requiring metabolic activation to exert its potent toxicity. We have found the amino alcohol (HE)APD to be an effective solubilizing and detoxifying agent for triiodinated benzene XRCM. Most of the compounds containing the (HE)APD moiety displayed good solution properties (low osmolality and viscosity) and relatively low toxicities. A general trend was observed in which compounds with low hydrophilicity were more toxic. High hydrophilicity was found to be necessary for low intracisternal toxicity, but is not the only criterion. Tiapride was given at an average dosage of 300-900 mg per day, intramuscularly for the first three days, then by oral route, to 62 patients with abnormal movements of various types. The best responses were recorded in chorea and bucco-lingua-facial dyskinesia as well as in dyskinetic movements induced by levo-dopa in Parkinson patients. Clinical and biological tolerance of tiapride was excellent, with only one case of drowsiness and two cases of galactorrhea.

PURPOSE: Singular value decomposition (SVD) of spectroscopic datasets generates multiple components whose physical roles are frequently left uninterpreted. The present study establishes that, in non-centered Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectral matrices dominated by positive intensity contributions, the first singular vector component (λ1) functions empirically as a global intensity-scaling axis, and that the ratio λ2/λ1 provides a scale-independent index of qualitative spectral change arising from solid-state intermolecular interactions.
