The bacteria resembled the organism recently named Campylobacter pyloridis by other investigators.

Buffy-coat smears prepared from 599 blood samples, obtained simultaneously with blood for culture, were examined for bacteria. Each blood sample was quantitatively cultured on chocolate agar. PURPOSE: Cold-induced vasodilation (CIVD) is an oscillatory rise in blood flow to glabrous skin that occurs in cold-exposed extremities. Dietary flavanols increase bioavailable nitric oxide, a proposed mediator of CIVD through active vasodilation and/or withdrawal of sympathetic vascular smooth muscle tone. However, no studies have examined the effects of flavanol intake on extremity skin perfusion during cold exposure. We report a case of a late adolescent female who presented to us with complaints of acute, painful loss of vision in her left eye. Her visual acuity (VA) had reduced to perception of hand movements within a week. Slit lamp examination and ultrasonography revealed that the patient had endophthalmitis. METHODS: A single observational case report of a 14-year-old Chinese female myope with a 1.5-month experience wearing overnight B.E. orthokeratology (Capricornia) lenses and presenting with a right stellate-shaped central cornea abscess.
