Trigeminal sensory neuropathy developing as a late complication after the treatment of surgically induced necrotizing scleritis following pterygium surgery: a case report and literature review.

BACKGROUND: Surgically induced necrotizing scleritis (SINS) is an immune-mediated disease that occurs infrequently after ocular procedures, with latency ranging from days to years. There are various early and late complications that can negatively affect quality of life after SINS. This case report aims to present late trigeminal sensory neuropathy (TSN), corresponding in this patient to painful post-traumatic trigeminal neuropathy (ICHD-3 13.1.2.3), as a complication in a patient who developed SINS after pterygium surgery (PS). CASE PRESENTATION: A 31-year-old woman was admitted to our clini

A Phase 2 Controlled Study of SB206, a Topical Nitric Oxide-Releasing Drug for Extragenital Wart Treatment.

BACKGROUND: Nitric oxide (NO), a free radical gas, is endogenously produced in human cells. In high concentration, NO neutralizes many disease-causing microbes. The topical investigational drug SB206 releases NO and has the potential to treat skin diseases caused by viruses. Genital warts (condyloma acuminata) are primarily caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) types 6 and 11. Available treatments have low tolerability and efficacy rates and are inconvenient for the patient. Genital warts can recur if HPV is incompletely eradicated during treatment. OBJECTIVE: Topical SB206 (berdazimer sodium

Application of 2D-Chromatography System for the Determination of Cosmetic Peptides in Skin Homogenates.

Peptides are increasingly employed as active ingredients in both therapeutic and cosmeceutical applications due to their high biological specificity, favorable safety profiles, and expanding market relevance. In topical formulations, peptide activity is typically confined to the skin, where widespread dermal proteases may significantly affect their stability and efficacy. Despite the growing use of bioactive peptides in dermatological and cosmeceutical products, robust analytical methodologies for assessing their susceptibility to dermal enzymatic degradation remain limited. In this study, a t

Dose-response evaluation of the ocular hypotensive effect of brinzolamide ophthalmic suspension (Azopt). Brinzolamide Dose-Response Study Group.

Brinzolamide is a novel carbonic anhydrase inhibitor that elicits an ocular hypotensive effect when instilled topically. A multicenter, double-masked, placebo-controlled, parallel trial was conducted to evaluate the optimal intraocular pressure (IOP)-lowering concentration and ocular tolerability of topically administered brinzolamide (0.3%, 1%, 2%, and 3%) in patients with primary, open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. After a washout phase, patients were administered brinzolamide or placebo twice daily for 2 weeks. The IOP was measured on days 8 and 15 at 8:00 A.M., and then 2, 4, 8, a

Spontaneous reporting of adverse drug reactions to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. A report from the Spanish System of Pharmacovigilance, including an early analysis of topical and enteric-coated formulations.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are the third most commonly prescribed group of drugs in Spain. We present here the profile of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) attributed to them and reported to the Spanish System of Pharmacovigilance (SSPV) between 1983 and 1991, together with a preliminary analysis of topical, slow-release (SR) and enteric-coated (EC) preparations. Out of 18,348 reports of ADRs included in the SSPV database, 1609 (8.8%) implicated an NSAID. NSAIDs ranked second after antibiotics (15.1% of all reports) among the most commonly implicated drugs. Half of the patients

Timolol concentrations in rat ocular tissues and plasma after topical and intraperitoneal dosing.

PURPOSE: Topical beta-blockers, such as timolol, have been used extensively in the medical treatment of glaucoma to lower intraocular pressure (IOP). Recently, these drugs have been shown to have effects on the retinal and optic nerve circulation as well as potential neuroprotective properties. In the current study, the concentration of timolol attained in the cornea, iris-ciliary body, retina, vitreous, and plasma was measured after topical or intraperitoneal administration in rats to determine the relative contributions of each route to intraocular timolol concentrations. Mapping programmable mRNA research relevant to cancer-associated immune escape: a dual-database bibliometric and topic modeling analysis.

BACKGROUND: Programmable messenger RNA (mRNA) platforms can encode tumor antigens or immunomodulators, enabling coordinated antigen delivery and immune modulation. Yet the literature spans cancer vaccination, delivery engineering, immune biology, and adjacent infectious-disease research, making its structure and evidentiary boundaries difficult to discern. We mapped this cross-domain corpus to clarify its development, organization, and relevance to cancer-associated immune escape. METHODS: We searched the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) and Scopus on July 29, 2026, for English-language

Scientific X-ray: Scanning and quantifying the idea evolution of scientific publications.

The rapid development of modern science nowadays makes it rather challenging to pick out valuable ideas from massive scientific literature. Existing widely-adopted citation-based metrics are not adequate for measuring how well the idea presented by a single publication is developed and whether it is worth following. Here, inspired by traditional X-ray imaging, which returns internal structure imaging of real objects along with corresponding structure analysis, we propose Scientific X-ray, a framework that quantifies the development degree and development potential for any scientific idea throu

Global Trends in the Neurosurgical Literature: A 20-Year Bibliometric Analysis by Country Income Group.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Despite growing global interest in neurosurgical equity, research output remains concentrated in high-income countries (HICs), with limited representation from lower-middle-income countries (LMICs). Although the global neurosurgery movement has highlighted these disparities, its impact on authorship and research equity is unclear. This study uses bibliometric analysis to evaluate 20-year trends in neurosurgical publications, focusing on authorship patterns across World Bank income groups. METHODS: A bibliometric analysis of publications with topic of "neurosurgery"

SAILOR: perceptual anchoring for robotic cognitive architectures.

Symbolic anchoring is an important topic in robotics, as it enables robots to obtain symbolic knowledge from the perceptual information acquired through their sensors and maintain the link between that knowledge and the sensory data. In cognitive-based robots, this process of transforming sub-symbolic data generated by sensors to obtain and maintain symbolic knowledge is still an open problem. To address this issue, this paper presents SAILOR, a framework for symbolic anchoring integrated into ROS 2. SAILOR aims to maintain the link between symbolic data and perceptual data in real robots over

Mucosal deposit after triamcinolone injection: a case report.

BACKGROUND: Oral ulcers exhibit diverse symptoms and etiologies. The treatment approach varies depending on the size and characteristics of the ulcer, typically starting with topical therapies such as steroid or antifungal mouth rinses. While most ulcers respond well to these localized treatments, some cases necessitate systemic interventions, including oral medications or intralesional injections. CASE PRESENTATION: A 59-year-old man with a one-month history of a persistent oral ulcer in the maxillary vestibule was diagnosed with major aphthous ulcer and treated with intralesional triamcinol

Early Identification and Intervention in Pediatric Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder characterized by persistent thoughts with subsequent repetitive behaviors. Interventions that are effective for adult OCD cannot simply be generalized to pediatric OCD, since OCD in children and adolescents usually has a different clinical presentation, etiology and course from adult OCD. Delayed and inadequate treatment is associated with a worse prognosis, making the need for early identification and intervention in pediatric OCD very urgent. In this paper, we reflected on the current constraints that make early interventions for

The Proposed Specifiers for Conduct Disorder (PSCD) in Iranian School-Attending Adolescents: A Multi-Informant Validation Study of the PSCD Parent- and Youth Self-Report Versions.

The Proposed Specifier for Conduct Disorder (PSCD) was developed to measure the broad psychopathy construct with grandiose-manipulative, callous-unemotional, daring-impulsive, and conduct disorder subscales. This study tested the psychometric properties of Persian parent-and-child self-report PSCD versions with 974 parents (86% mothers) and children/adolescents (46.5% boys) dyads. Results showed that with some modifications the proposed hierarchical four-factor structure for both PSCDs was confirmed and was found to be invariant across gender. Across versions, all PSCD scores were internally c
