Comparison between the dimensions of lateral incisor crowns adjacent to unerupted palatally displaced and nondisplaced canine.

AIM: To compare the dimensions of lateral incisor crowns adjacent to unerupted palatally displaced and nondisplaced permanent maxillary canines. METHODS: The sample consisted of 36 children between 10 and 12 years of age with unerupted maxillary canines. Each presented with a unilaterally palatally displaced (with respect to the lateral incisor) canine. The lateral incisor next to the palatally displaced canine was considered the experimental tooth; the tooth on the contralateral side was considered the control tooth. Measurements were crown width (mesiodistal), thickness (labiopalatal), tape…

Two prosthetic crowns supported by a single implant: an esthetic alternative for restoring the anterior maxilla.

Esthetic complications due to nonharmonious peri-implant soft tissue profiles are common in the anterior maxilla, especially when 2 adjacent implants are found. This article suggests the use of a single implant to replace 2 lost adjacent teeth in this region and demonstrates the treatment with 2 clinical cases. The main advantage is preservation of the interdental papilla and gingival contours, compensating for the alveolar bone crest resorption at the platform of a second implant.

Fracture modelling of zirconia crowns in dental implant systems using XFEM, phase-field methods, and Weibull statistics.

OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to develop a continuum-scale computational workflow for assessing fracture behaviour of zirconia crowns in dental implant systems under ISO 14801 loading conditions. METHODS: A three-dimensional finite element model of a Matrix multi-level implant system was developed. Global elastic analysis was first used to evaluate the maximum principal tensile stress distribution in the zirconia crown. The extended finite element method was then applied to assess damage initiation and crack-path development. A localized phase-field fracture sub-model was used to examine regul…

Preformed Stainless-Steel Crowns: Their Effects on Oral Hygiene Maintenance and Gingival Health - A Prospective Original Research.

The stainless-steel crown (SSC) is a durable restoration and has several indications for use in primary teeth such as following a pulpotomy/pulpectomy, fractured teeth, teeth with developmental defects, or large multi-surface caries lesions where amalgam is likely to fail. Due to its durability and a lifespan like the primary tooth, it could well be the gold standard in restorative care. SSCs protect the crown from fracture, reduce the possibility for leakage, and ensure a biological seal. However, the placement of the SSC should follow a meticulous technique. There are some clinical situation

Survival Analysis of Prefabricated Zirconia Crowns with and Without Pulpotomy in Primary Teeth: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

BACKGROUND: Prefabricated Zirconia Crowns (PZCs) are increasingly preferred for restoring primary teeth due to their esthetic appeal and retention. However, their rigid, unmodifiable design requires precise tooth preparation, often leading to aggressive reduction and potential pulp exposure. Pulpotomy, a standard treatment for reversible pulpitis and mechanical pulp exposure, is sometimes employed before PZCs. While pulpotomy is not routinely performed, its use raises important considerations about the interplay between restorative procedures and pulp therapy in pediatric dentistry, particular…
