A 14-year-old boy was referred to our outpatient department with complaints of dry cough, high-grade fever for 20 days and chest X-ray (CXR) opacity. The clinical examination was normal. His CXR showed a right mid-zone lobulated, homogenous opacity. Computed tomography (CT) of thorax showed a well-defined cystic lesion in right upper lobe with 5-10HU (Hounsfield unit) suggesting a fluid filled cyst. CT guided aspiration of cyst was undertaken and revealed clear fluid with no cells. Post-aspiration high-resolution CT images demonstrated classical signs of hydatid cyst.

In autumn of 2019 a three years old female parrot fish was referred to the veterinary hospital for diagnosis and treatment. The prominent symptom was inappetence and a large mass or unilateral distention in the abdominal cavity. Ultrasonography and radiology imaging with contrast media were done to evaluate the abdominal cavity. According to presumptive diagnosis by imaging, the fluid-filled mass was aspirated by a sterile syringe. No bacteria or other microorganisms were seen in the fluid using microscopy and culturing of the fluid on trypticase soy agar. The parrot fish died after three days

Cystic conditions are the most common disorder of the breast. Simple cysts are not malignant and do not require intervention. Patients with symptomatic simple cysts can undergo elective aspiration, and typical cyst fluid can be discarded. Bloody fluid should be sent for cytology. Cysts with thick walls, thick septations, or solid components have a risk of malignancy and should undergo biopsy.

INTRODUCTION: Endodermal cysts are congenital benign cystic lesions in the central nervous system and cause various symptoms. Although some have been reported in the posterior fossa, endodermal cysts located dorsal to the brainstem are extremely rare.
CASE PRESENTATION: The case was of a 10-year-old girl who presented with bilateral upper limb weakness and tremor. Magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated a 4.5-cm cystic lesion with T1-weighted hypointense and T2-weighted hyperintense content in the midline of the cisterna magna dorsal to the medulla oblongata. The cyst was cerebrospinal fluid-

A branchial cyst in a heifer was removed surgically. Diagnosis was based on clinical signs, analysis of cyst contents, and histologic examination of the cyst wall. Biochemically, the cyst fluid resembled a transudate. The cyst lining consisted of nonciliated, pseudostratified columnar epithelium and pigmented, keratinized, stratified squamous epithelium. The embryologic origin was thought to be endoderm of the 2nd pharyngeal pouch and adjacent ectoderm.

The fibro-cystic disease is very common disease. Hormonal factors: hyperestrogenemia, luteal deficiency, dysprolactinemia are inconstant. They are neither necessary nor sufficient to induce the cystic disease. The relations GCD (gross cystic disease) with breast cancer remain the fundamental problem. Although the cyst itself only exceptionally degenerates into cancer, the presence of macrocystic disease multiplies by 3 to 4 the risk of cancer. A lot of interesting examinations were performed on cyst fluids aspirated from patients to identify women with benign breast disease and particular risk…

We report a huge ovarian solitary luteinized follicle cyst (SLFC) that contained 17 liters of fluid. Computed tomography scan revealed a 32 x 32 x 20 cm right simple cystic ovarian mass without calcification or septation. The fluid was removed, and the collapsed unilocular cyst was examined pathologically. No solid or papillary areas were identified. The cyst wall lining was composed of multiple layers of luteinized cells of variable size and shape with abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm and focally enlarged, pleomorphic, and hyperchromatic nuclei. Nests of luteinized cells were embedded within t

Supratentorial neurenteric cyst is a rare entity. They are usually isointense to slightly hyperintense on T1W images and hyperintense on T2-weighted/fluid attenuated inversion recovery images. There was a diagnostic dilemma in this case due to the cerebrospinal fluid intensity of the cyst on magnetic resonance imaging. Postoperative residual lesion predisposes to hemorrhage and seizures.

A case of extensive aneurysmal bone cyst of the maxilla is described, with a recurrence 2 years after surgical curettage, treated by new curettage and radiotherapy. The pathogenesis of this pseudo-cyst is yet obscure. While CT (and MR) demonstrate characteristic fluid-fluid levels, the diagnosis remains histological. A long survey, based on radiography, is necessary to detect recurrence.

A 1-year-old child with an aneurysmal bone cyst in the scapula is presented. The sonographic examination showed a cystic formation with intraosseal fluid levels that shifted after repositioning of the child. Similar findings have been reported on CT scans and it is suggested that shifting fluid levels are an indicative feature of aneurysmal bone cyst.

Ca 125 was assayed in serum and in breast cyst fluid of 78 patients with GCD. Levels of the marker in cyst fluid are generally < 30 U/ml. More significative results were found in relation to cysts relapse. In apocrine cysts relapse levels were higher than 270 U/ml, in serum cysts not relapsed levels were between 31-270 U/ml. Ca 125 could have a significative role in cell differentiation and its control.

A supratentorial cyst in the leptomeninges of an 8-month-old infant was studied with the electron microscope. The lining of the cyst consisted of a single layer of peg-shaped epithelial cells rich in organelles and glycogen. Their free border had numerous microvilli but no cilia, and their basal portions rested on a basement membrane. Tight junctions and interdigitations were frequent between contiguous cells. The blood vessels were fenestrated. Since these features characterize developing choroidal epithelial cells, we felt the diagnosis of choroidal epithelial cyst was justified. Cysts lined

PURPOSE: To investigate the imaging features of cyst infection in autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) patients using computed tomography (CT) and ultrasonography (US).
MATERIALS & METHODS: The institutional review board approved this retrospective study. Fifty-one episodes with proven cyst infection in forty-three ADPKD patients were included. Two experienced abdominal radiologists reviewed CT and US images and evaluated the following imaging features in consensus: cyst size, location, cyst shape, intracystic attenuation, intracystic echogenicity, intracystic heterogeneity, w

Intraparenchymal pericatheter cyst is rarely reported. Obstruction in the ventriculoperitoneal shunt leads to recurrence of hydrocephalus, signs of raised intracranial pressure and possibly secondary complications. Blockage of the distal catheter can result, unusually, in cerebrospinal fluid oedema and/or intraparenchymal cyst around the ventricular catheter which may produce focal neurological deficit. We report two cases of distal catheter obstruction with formation of cysts causing local mass effect and neurological deficit. Both patients had their shunt system replaced, which led to resolu

We present the case of a boy with a congenital right orbital cyst with bilateral colobomatous microphthalmia. Neuroimaging studies excluded communication between the cyst and the eye and between the cyst and the central nervous system. Analysis of cyst fluid obtained by aspiration detected beta 2-transferrin by high resolution immunofixation (IFE). The cyst recurred two months following aspiration. It was then completely excised and histopathologic studies demonstrated a cyst containing neuroglial tissue. No recurrence was observed for 12 months following excision.

Rathke's cleft cysts (RCCs) are non-neoplastic cystic lesions of the sellar region in which the primary pathological mechanism is the mass effect caused by cyst fluid accumulation. Although endoscopic endonasal surgery is the standard treatment for symptomatic RCCs, postoperative recurrence remains relatively frequent, and optimal surgical strategies remain debated. To improve long-term cyst control, we developed a mucosal coupling (MC) method, establishing a persistent drainage route from the cyst cavity to the sphenoid sinus using the sphenoid sinus mucosa. However, the MC method is not appl…

We herein present a case of a neonatal cervical cyst, which was diagnosed prenatally, and markedly decreased in size and disappeared after a local injection therapy of OK-432. A 0-day-old boy had an abnormal prenatal ultrasonography scan suggestive of rt. cervical cyst, measuring about 25 mm in diameter at 29 weeks' gestation. At birth, an elastic soft mass, measuring about 30 mm in diameter, was found on the right side of his neck. Computed tomography (CT) scans showed a giant cyst, which extended from the upper level of epipharynx to the upper mediastinum, and the contents were air and fluid

The size of the kidneys in patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is due in large measure to the accumulation of secreted fluid within thin-walled epithelial sacs. We measured the net transepithelial movement of liquid in response to forskolin in isolated, intact cysts excised from the surface of human ADPKD kidneys and in cultured, polarized monolayers of epithelial cells derived from ADPKD cysts. 10 excised cysts bathed symmetrically in control culture medium secreted fluid at a rate of 0.19 +/- 0.03 microliter/cm2 per hour after stimulation with forskolin (10 mic

Pineal cysts are prevalent in the population. Due to more widespread use of magnetic resonance imaging, an increasing number of symptomatic patients with non-hydrocephalic pineal cysts are referred to neurologists and neurosurgeons. Currently, there is no generally accepted theoretical framework for linking symptoms to a pineal cyst. We have previously suggested that cyst-induced crowding of the pineal recess may affect venous runoff from the deep cerebral veins crossing the cyst. However, evidence underpinning this hypothesis is sparse. In the present study, we asked whether crowding of the p

A patient with compression of the left popliteal artery by cystic adventitial disease is presented. The adventitial cyst was connected to a Baker's cyst. The patient suffered severe ischemia only after heavy exercise, because the mucous fluid of the Baker's cyst shifted into the popliteal artery cyst when the Baker's cyst was compressed. The etiology of cystic adventitial disease of the popliteal artery in this patient is discussed.
