Pancreatic carcinoma is a rare cause of GI bleeding. We have studied eight patients in whom major digestive hemorrhage was the first sign of a subsequently proven pancreatic malignancy. Bleeding was characteristically severe and unremitting, including hematochezia (four), melena (three), and hematemesis (one).
