The results of endoscopic biopsy in 21 cases of intraventricular tumor are presented. The details of the equipment are given. Of the 21 tumors biopsied, there were 9 in the lateral ventricle, 2 in the thalamus, 6 in the anterior portion of the 3rd ventricle, and 4 in the pineal region. A correct histological diagnosis was made in 11 cases (52.4%). No serious complications were noted. The value of the procedure is discussed.

ERCP was successfully carried out 6 times in 4 children with suspected round worm infestation of the biliary tree. A general anaesthetic was given in all cases, and an adult duodenofibrescope was used. Early experience indicates that the procedure is feasible and of value even in small children weighing 12 kg. As in adults, ERCP should be considered whenever a precise outline of the pancreato-biliary system is required, and when infusion cholangiography fails to give the desired information.

This case highlights the unique and multidimensional challenges encountered in the anaesthetic management of a patient with severe kyphotic deformity undergoing orthopaedic surgery. The report illustrates the rare use of awake sitting fibreoptic tracheal intubation after failed spinal anaesthesia, with emphasis on airway innovation, regional analgesic adjuncts and strategic decision-making under anatomical constraints. We believe this case contributes significantly to the clinical knowledge base, particularly in managing complex spine-related deformities in anaesthesia practice.

Subcutaneous emphysema is a rare but well-defined surgical complication. However, emphysema of the supraglottic mucosa has not been described in the literature. We present a case of a 2-year-old male who suffered supraglottic emphysema secondary to fiber optic CO2-laser use during laryngeal cleft repair. The patient required preemptive postoperative intubation; however, there were no long-lasting adverse effects at 6 and 12 weeks follow up. This report illustrates a rare CO2-laser complication and describes its sequela.

We compared the Bonfils™ and SensaScope™ rigid fibreoptic scopes in 200 patients with a simulated difficult airway randomised to one of the two devices. A cervical collar inhibited neck movement and reduced mouth opening to a mean (SD) of 23 (3) mm.
