The efficacy of oral co-amoxyclav, administered twice daily for up to 12 weeks either at the manufacturer's dose rate of 12.5 mg/kg or at 25.0 mg/kg, in curing the lesions of canine folliculitis, furunculosis and cellulitis was compared in a blind study. A total of 97 dogs entered the trial and 67 completed it. There was no significant difference in the rate of cure or the duration of therapy. Acne keloidalis, also known as folliculitis nuchae, is a form of chronic scarring folliculitis characterized by fibrotic papules and nodules of the nape of the neck and the occiput. It particularly affects men of African descent and is rarely ever seen in women. We here report the clinical findings of two Nigerian women who developed acne keloidalis. This report also reviews the pathogenesis of this disease.

Perforating dermatoses, an often overlooked entity comprised of Kyrle's disease, perforating folliculitis, reactive perforating collagenosis, elastosis perforans serpiginosa, and acquired perforating dermatosis, are succinctly described, focusing attention on their clinical features, histopathology, treatment, and pathogenesis. The literature on these facets has been extensively reviewed. In addition, three fresh cases of Kyrle's and one of perforating folliculitis have been incorporated to illustrate these conditions.

Pityrosporum ovale is a lipophilic yeast that is part of the normal human adult cutaneous flora. It is both a saprophyte and an opportunistic pathogen associated with pityriasis versicolor, Pityrosporum folliculitis, seborrheic dermatitis, and some forms of atopic dermatitis. Systemic infections have also been described. In this article the diagnosis and management of pityriasis versicolor, Pityrosporum folliculitis, seborrheic dermatitis, and atopic dermatitis will be discussed.

The scalp is a useful and reliable donor site in pediatric burn patients that can be multiply harvested with minimal morbidity.
