Two recently observed patients with sternocostoclavicular hyperostosis exemplify the characteristic presentation of this rheumatologic disorder. We describe its manifestations, review the literature on this subject, and discuss clinical and radiologic aspects, including the frequently associated dermatologic disorder palmoplantar pustulosis. Sternocostoclavicular hyperostosis is an increasingly common diagnosis, and practicing physicians should be aware of the distinctive features that allow accurate differentiation from psoriatic arthritis and other diseases.

We have treated 48 cases of onychomycosis (of which 37 were caused by dermatophytes, 10 by yeasts and one by Scopulariopsis brevicaulis) with 200 mg ketoconazole daily. We obtained recovery in 65 p. 100 of the cases of onyxis caused by dermatophytes and in 80 p. 100 of the cases of onychomycosis due to Candida. The one patient presenting an infection with Scopulariopsis brevicaulis recovered in 13 months. The average duration necessary to obtain complete recovery was 6 1/2 months for onychomycosis of the hands due to dermatophytes and 12 1/2 months for those of the feet. Perionyxis due to Cand

A statistically significant increased prevalence of antithyroid antibodies was found by an indirect immunofluorescence technique in 37 patients with pustulosis palmoplantaris, as compared with an approximatley age- and sex-matched group of healthy controls. A history of thyroid disease was also more frequent in patients with PPP than in the population at large. The increased risk of thyroid dysfunction should be kept in mind in the long-term care of PPP cases. The prevalence of non-cutaneous autoantibodies was not increased in psoriatic subjects. The results accord with the concept that PPP an

A patient with purpura, acral blisters, and ulcerations was evaluated and found to have cryofibrinogenemia and an IgG K light chain monoclonal gammopathy. No other systemic illness was found. The overall incidence of significant cryofibrinogenemia include neoplastic, thrombotic, infectious, and miscellaneous disorders. The patient described was not easily classified. This case is probably best considered primary or idiopathic cryofibrinogenemia.

HL-A typing was performed on 97 patients with pustular psoriasis. HLA-B27 was found increased for the combined three subgroups: localized psoriasis of palms and soles, acrodermatitis continua and generalized pustular psoriasis, who were associated with a high incidence of arthritis. These subgroups have this in common with Reiter's disease indicating a link between the entities. In persistent palmo-plantar pustulosis an increased incidence of HLA-Bw35 was found. HLA-B13, HLA-B17 and HLA-Bw37 which are found markedly increased in psoriasis vulgaris were in acrodermatitis continua, generalized p

BACKGROUND: Mycetoma are rare cutaneous affections caused by pathogens such as fungi or bacteria. They settle preferentially on limb extremities. We are going to talk about an original case of mycetoma in a young Cameroonian trader.
OBSERVATION: A cutaneous mass with multiple draining sinuses was received at the anatomy and cytopathology laboratory. That mass was from a 30-year-old male trader, with no particular medical history and living in Yaounde, who was received for a lesion at the sole of the foot, which appeared some months before. This lesion started like a tough and painless nodule,

Mycetoma is a chronic granulomatous disease, classified into eumycetoma caused by fungi and actinomycetoma due to aerobic filamentous actinomycetes. Mycetoma can be found in geographic areas near the Tropic of Cancer. Mexico is one of the countries in which actinomycetoma is endemic. We report an extraordinary case of an adult male with double eumycetoma caused by Madurella mycetomatis and Fusarium verticillioides on both feet.

Footwear dermatitis is a disabling condition that is identified by blistering and/or weeping feet that may become secondarily infected and painful. Fissuring is a common feature, resulting in an inability to walk, and it may prevent the wearing of footwear, especially when shoes are the cause of the dermatosis. In the absence of adequate care and therapy, footwear dermatitis may turn into a chronic distressing disease that largely effects the daily quality of life of patients.

Fixed drug eruption (FDE) usually presents as a single oval to round violaceous patch after administration of the causative drug. We describe a case of FDE presenting with multiple annular erythematous lesions over dorsal aspects of both feet following the administration of phenobarbital. To the best of our knowledge, such an atypical demonstration had never been reported. Fixed drug eruption should be considered in the differential diagnosis of annular lesions.
