OBJECTIVE: To report one new case of paratesticular leiomyosarcoma.
METHODS: We describe the case of a 68-year-old male patient consulting for right groin pain over two years with a physical examination corresponding to right inguinal hernia. During surgery for hernia correction a paratesticular mass was discovered.
RESULTS: Right radical orchiectomy was performed. After the operation there was a recurrence at the scar which was operated and finally the disease progressed both locally and systemically.

Primary leiomyosarcoma of bone is a very rare tumor. Four cases are reported: 3 tumors were located in the femur and 1 in the talus. Clinical and imaging findings including radiographs, CT, and MRI are described. The final diagnosis was made by histopathological, immunohistochemical, and/or ultrastructural study after biopsy.

We report a primary adrenal leiomyosarcoma in a 59-year-old man. Computed tomography demonstrated a poorly enhanced mass, measuring 10 cm, between the left kidney and the normal left adrenal gland, with tumor thrombus in the inferior vena cava (IVC). The patient underwent left radical nephroadrenalectomy with IVC thrombectomy. The histological diagnosis was adrenal leiomyosarcoma. Adrenal leiomyosarcomas are extremely rare. Only seven cases have been reported previously in the English-language literature.

Primary extragenital leiomyosarcoma is rarely found in pelvic localization. Bone lesions in leiomyosarcoma are uncommon. When encountered, they are usually a late manifestation of disease seen in the setting of widespread systemic metastases. We present five cases of metastatic leiomyosarcoma, including one in which a bone lesion predated detection of a primary gastric leiomyosarcoma and one in which bone metastases signaled disease recurrence. Computed tomography in 14 of 16 osseous leiomyosarcomas demonstrated a lytic, non-expansile pattern.

Two cases of primary hepatic leiomyosarcoma are reported. Review of the literature reveals only seven previous reports. Cases presented predominantly with either hepatomegaly or ascites. Neither history nor physical and laboratory examination distinguished these patients with primary leiomyosarcomas from those with other hepatic tumors. Analysis of the cases reviewed suggests that aggressive hepatic surgery may improve prognosis.

BACKGROUND: Uterine leiomyosarcoma is a malignant neoplasm arising from leiomyocytes in the uterus.
CASE DESCRIPTION: A 12-year-old mixed-breed intact female dog was presented with vaginal bleeding for the past 2 weeks. Abdominal ultrasonography revealed a mixed echogenic mass in the uterus, and right lateral abdominal radiography showed a large mid-abdominal mass. Exploratory celiotomy was performed, revealing a solid mass in the entire uterine body and both uterine horns. Ovariohysterectomy was performed and the uterine mass sample was microscopically examined.

A 9 yr old male miniature poodle presented with acute diarrhea, vomiting, and a distended abdomen. A large and firm mass was palpated in the caudal abdomen. Leiomyosarcomas (LMSs) are rare tumors originating from the muscular layer. We performed a literature review of cases of confirmed rectal leiomyosarcomas (rLMSs) to clarify the history of such an infrequent tumor arising at such an uncommon location. In this research local recurrence was related to poorly differentiated rLMS and no other association between recurrence and any criteria was found. Concerning overall survival (OS), rLMS patients developing recurrence presented shorter longevity compared with the group without.
