Microcystic lymphatic malformation (MiLM), also known as lymphangioma circumscriptum, is a superficial collection of lymphatic vessels measuring <1 cm in the largest diameter, often with a more extensive deeper malformation. It commonly presents as discrete or grouped plaques of clear or hemorrhagic vesicles classically described as "frogspawn"; however, here we describe a case of its unique presentation as firm papules on the lips of a healthy six-year-old child. These skin-colored papules in the absence of vesicles with lymphatic and/or hemorrhagic fluid may not be clinically indicative of M

Surgical management of vascular anomalies depends on the type of lesion, location, symptoms, and consideration of other treatment options. A correct diagnosis must be confirmed before choosing management. Complete resection of a vascular anomaly rarely is required. Operative intervention should not cause a worse deformity than the lesion. Vascular anomalies primarily managed operatively include pyogenic granuloma, congenital hemangioma, and arteriovenous malformation. Resection of infantile hemangioma, kaposiform hemangioendothelioma, capillary malformation, lymphatic malformation, and venous

Kaposiform lymphangiomatosis (KLA) is a rare clinicopathological entity among lymphatic anomalies. The main involved sites are the mediastinum and the lungs but the disease can also affect multiple extrathoracic organs. Little is known about the pathophysiology, the natural history, the treatment response and the long-term outcome of this disorder. KLA is typically diagnosed in childhood. We present here the case of an adult man with 13 years recurrent episodes of haemoptysis who was finally found to suffer from KLA. Following this, we present a comprehensive review of the literature.

Background: Complex lymphatic anomalies (CLA) are a group of conditions that pose diagnostic and therapeutic challenges due to their rarity and overlapping clinical findings. This case series describes the complex pathology and novel combination therapies of three patients diagnosed with various types of CLA. Methods and Results: A retrospective review of medical records was performed for three patients treated for CLA between 2011 and 2019. Diagnostics, imaging, treatment, and follow-up were reviewed in the electronic medical record and combined with the literature review within the analysis.

INTRODUCTION: Retroperitoneal laparoscopic surgery is a widely applied technique in the management of renal, adrenal, ureteral, and retroperitoneal lymphatic disorders. A representative condition is chyluria, a rare disease caused by a lymphatic-urinary fistula, most commonly involving the ureter and renal pelvis. The retroperitoneal approach provides direct access to the affected structures while minimizing intra-abdominal manipulation, thereby reducing the risks of bowel adhesions and visceral injury. This technique enables ligation, excision, or suturing of abnormal lymphatic vessels, poten

BACKGROUND: Current predictive models of lymphedema risk cannot predict with 100% certainty which patients will go on to develop lymphedema and which will not. Patient-specific anatomic and physiologic differences may be the missing factor. The authors hypothesize that patients with accessory lymphatic pathways may have improved lymphatic drainage, resulting in smaller limb volumes.
METHODS: The authors reviewed indocyanine green (ICG) lymphography images of all patients who presented to their institution for evaluation of breast cancer-related lymphedema. Patients with unilateral upper extre

High-frequency ultrasonography represents a promising tool for pediatric dermatologists. It is a noninvasive and harmless diagnostic technique that is especially appealing when working with children. It can be easily performed at the patient's bedside, avoiding diagnostic delays, sedation, or multiple visits. It represents a useful adjunct to clinical examination and aids our understanding of cutaneous pathology. In this second part, we describe the ultrasonographic findings of developmental anomalies and vascular lesions.

Lymphedema results from impaired lymphatic transport with increased limb volume. Primary and secondary forms can be distinguished. Secondary lymphedema of the upper limb is the most frequent in France. A 2-cm difference on any segment of the limb confirms the diagnosis of lymphedema. Calculated lymphedema volume using the formula for a truncated cone is required to assess the efficacy of treatment and to monitor follow-up. Primary lymphedema is sporadic but rarely familial. Lymphoscintigraphy is useful in the primary form to evaluate precisely lymphatic function of the two limbs. Erysipelas is

BACKGROUND: The pathophysiology of secondary lymphedema remains poorly understood. This study aimed to establish a consistent mouse hindlimb lymphedema model for further investigation of the mechanism and treatment of lymphedema.
METHODS: The authors developed a novel postsurgical lymphedema model in the mouse hindlimb by modifying previously described methods. Lymphedema in the hindlimb was created by removing both the inguinal and popliteal lymph nodes together with the surrounding fat pads, followed by silicone splint placement in the inguinal region. Using this modified mouse model, the a

The present authors reported a 14-year-old white boy who visited the present authors' dermatology department in January 2004. Physical examination revealed multiple translucent and hemorrhagic vesicles and skin-colored nodules on the chin. The lesion had grown slowly in size over the previous 7 years. The objective of this study is to estimate the exact mechanism of action of topical imiquimod on mixed capillary/lymphatic malformation. After 4 weeks of therapy the lesions were less protuberant. At the follow-up examination after a further 2 months of therapy, there was partial clinical regress

Over the past several centuries, the integration of contemporary medical techniques and innovative technologies, like genetic sequencing, have played a pivotal role in enhancing our comprehension of congenital vascular and lymphatic disorders. Nonetheless, the uncommon and complex characteristics of these disorders, especially considering their formation during the intrauterine stage, present significant obstacles in diagnosis and treatment. Here, we review the intricacies of these congenital abnormalities, offering an in-depth examination of key diagnostic approaches, genetic factors, and the

Chylothorax is a rare cause of pleural effusion in young children and may result from congenital lymphatic abnormalities, trauma, tumors, and systemic infections. Here we discuss a case of a previously healthy toddler who presented to the emergency department with fever and refusal to walk and subsequently developed respiratory distress with concern for impending respiratory failure. A large right sided pleural effusion was identified and ultimately determined to be consistent with chylothorax secondary to inflicted trauma.

Yellow nail syndrome is characterized by a yellow discolouration of the nails associated with idiopathic lymphoedema and pleuropulmonary manifestations. Pleural effusions are usually of the exudate type with a normal lipid content. The case reported here of a 74-year old man who had yellow nails together with chylothorax and chylous ascites provides an opportunity to discuss the origin of these rare effusions which, like the syndrome itself, were most probably due to primary abnormalities of the lymphatic system.
