This study aims to estimate the prevalence rates of β-thalassemia and Sickle cell disorders in the adult population screened (n = 275,819) as part of the Kuwaiti National Premarital Screening Program. BACKGROUND: To reveal the complex etiology of gastroschisis through two independent cases.
CASES: Case 1 involves gastroschisis recurrence in a consanguineous marriage, and Case 2 concerns a fetus with gastroschisis whose mother had undergone gastroplasty. Methylation array was carried out in both cases (two fetuses with gastroschisis, their two mothers, one father from the consanguineous marriage), and in 16 controls (fetuses and their respective mothers).
CONCLUSION: The two cases presented different noninherited methylation profiles.

Using a community-based cross-sectional survey, this study attempted to determine the prevalence and correlates of intimate partner physical violence against women in Kofale District, Ethiopia. The study showed that 52.6% of the respondents had experienced intimate partner physical violence in their lifetime and 30.2% in the 12 months before the survey. Witnessing family violence as a child, education, place of residence, parity, duration of the marriage, a tradition of marriage arrangement and the partners' use of alcohol were associated with intimate partner physical violence.

Earlier models of fertility hypothesize that marital dissolution and remarriage influence subsequent childbearing. This issue is examined by comparing the fertility of those in disrupted marriages with that of those in stable marriages. This paper examines the effects of three different types of father absence on the timing of life history events among women in rural Bangladesh. Age at marriage and age at first birth are compared across women who experienced different father presence/absence conditions as children.
