BACKGROUND: This review is an update of a previously published review in the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews on 'Single dose oral aspirin for acute pain'. Aspirin has been known for many years to be an effective analgesic for many different pain conditions. Although its use as an analgesic is now limited in developed countries, it is widely available, inexpensive, and remains commonly used throughout the world.

The aims of this study were: (1) to see whether the number of relapses of hindfoot deformity in congenital club foot in the first year of life could be reduced by operative treatment, and (2) to try by surgery to pinpoint features of congenital club feet that make them resistant to treatment. BACKGROUND: Amputations sustained owing to combat-related blast injuries are at high risk for deep infection and development of heterotopic ossification, which can necessitate reoperation and place immense strain on the patient. A 13-year-old spayed female domestic shorthair cat was brought to a veterinary clinic because of lethargy and anorexia. The cat had a history of hyperthyroidism and had been treated with methimazole for 40 d before the appointment. Hematologic examination revealed a severe non-regenerative anemia and leukopenia characterized by severe neutropenia along with low basophil and eosinophil numbers. We analysed the outcome of 11 pregnancies in women treated for inflammatory bowel disease with mesalazine (Pentasa) during part of or throughout pregnancy. There were 9 healthy babies, one spontaneous abortion (the woman had an uterine malformation) and one infant with multiple malformations (but the mother was not treated with mesalazine during organogenesis). Because of the relatively small number of pregnancies exposed to mesalazine (Pentasa) in this study, these data need to be confirmed by other studies.
